WOW and was there even an Tornado Warning? I don't even recall during the day that anything was even mentioned, did someone drop the ball? This was 10 minutes from my house. This was 10 minutes from my house. I don't think anyone expected that last night. As for the warning I don't know for sure but i think the warning was issued for berks after the tornado have moved through lancaster county. It was severe warned, and embedded in a line of straight line winds, very hard to detect.

Yeah I wasn't placing blame just noting that the tornado warning was issued afterwards for lancaster.
CT Rain
KDIX 88d showed a pretty decent couplet and even a tornado debris signature on dual pol that lasted for several volume scans. Max delta V was about 65 knots shortly after tornadogenesis occured. The LSR time appears to be off by about 15 minutes based on the radar data I'm looking at. I'm surpried given the dual pol signature that there wasn't a warning issued. Unfortunately Lancaster county is sort of in nomansland for radar coverage... with the radar beam about 9kft AGL for both KDIX and KCCX.

CT Rain
I think I just boldened a "cause and effect" for you Oh yeah... unfortunately Lancaster County is just covered poorly all around. Ironic since it's such a severe weather hotbed in the commonwealth! Hindsight is 20/20... and this is not really a criticism given the aforementioned challenge... I was just saying that once the TDS appeared I'm surprised they didn't go with a warning. Obviously the lead time wouldn't be great but it would have been something
CT Rain
I will say, at first, looking back at the radar data I wasn't expecting to see a TDS especially given the beam's height! I also was surprised since the tornado traveled over a lot of farmland... it wasn't over a heavily wooded area so I wouldn't expect to see as much debris. It does look like the TDS was embedded within an area of small hail/graupel as well.

That same cell had been TOR warned down in MD as well if I'm not mistaken. Am kinda surprised that the warning was not carried over from the MD warning when the cell crossed into PA. phlwx
Something to keep an eye on I suppose. The EC is much slower...and oh, tries to backdoor trough a cold rain/mountain snow via a piece of energy off of the posttropic remnants of whatever fires up in the Caribbean.
