kulaginman
This was fun! I'll probably go back into hibernation for a little while, but I'm coming home again for Christmas so I'll definitely check back in as we get closer. Hoping for "the big one" when I'm in the area next!
OSUmetstud
Even where the band was at it's best here, it actually suffered all day from poor snow growth. We mostly had the little soft snowballs...and ice pellets mixed on occasion. There was a few times when we managed mixed dendrites. The omega never quite effectively punched the dendritic SGZ. The snow on the ground has that "baking powder" appearance.

BuffaloWeather
6" on the nose in West Seneca. Did very well. Band just stalled over here. Awesome, nice total. Seems like West Seneca attracts some of the best bands. I swear its better to live in West Seneca then OP/Hamburg/Eden most of the time. Something magical causes the bands to stall out over that location more times then none.

OSUmetstud
some potential for a lake enhanced squall or two on wednesday afternoon. Skew T is pretty unstable. Any true les in BUF metro would be short lived as the shortwave passes.
scottmartin49
Boonville, NY- First 'real' snow of the year here. Maybe 14" total over 72 hrs. as fallen, but shrinks fast. Enough to ski on, so AOK!

heavy_wx
Light snow here. The band over Lake Ontario is starting to look a bit more organized with a more defined core of higher reflectivity. We could get a brief period of moderate snow as it drifts south in the next few hours.

scottmartin49
Melting back fast here in Boonville, even after a cold forecast (since revised)- and with the AO going strongly negative! It's time to acknowledge the effect of northern ice on mid-latitude winter. The old models aren't keeping up.... I'm still going with the Wooly Bears. We were flooded with Pacific air almost all of last year...the state of the ice on the Atlantic side has a minimal effect on us here in the NE.... If you pump up a ridge over the mountains, we get cold....simple as that. Look at the E. AK/NW Territories departures. We could get slapped in the face in a real hurry! Our melting snow is more a figment of it still being early season and having a recently relatively mild stretch of weather. BTW....someone is going to cash in tonight pretty good, E. of Ontario.... Very well said George, The first third of the winter was forecasted to be warmer than average....with the second half to 2/3 being a colder than average...with the ENSO neutral we will see warm ups and cool downs all winter. But I still think the eastern NYS and southern NE will see a bit above average this year.....with the snowbelts coming in around average. I hope you're right.....but it looks like 2 to 5 for the Tug.....at least IMO
