CT Rain
One thing I will say about "odd" NE hurricane setups like Leslie would be. In the next 100 years we'll probably get one that doesn't fit the mold. Whether it's a storm south of Bermuda rocketing NW because a monster anomalous ridge over Newfoundland and a deep cut off in the SE US..... or a storm like Esther doing a loop near ACK. CT Rain
There's good ol Esther. I do think we'll see a "weird one" one day that just doesn't fit the mold. A 1938-esque cut off that cuts off over the southern Apps maybe and sling shots something toward us? Who knows... but it can happen...
CoastalWx
Me too and was thinking about the surf that day, epic. LOL, that hurricane graphic is one of our older legacy graphics at work. Where did you find that? You really are the Dead Sea Scrolls man.

Amazing I have a bunch of stuff myself including a DiFax satellite photo of Gloria. I also have a bunch of other printouts and stuff...I should make an effort to scan it. That was back in the day that waited by your printer to start printing models runs and hourlys. It's almost too easy these days. lol

CT Rain
Carol 53 had an interesting track. What a tease lol. 50 years from now with climate change... do we move the westerlies far enough north to start looking at odd tracks like that threaten SNE more often??? lol
Damage In Tolland
I'd say there's about a 40% chance that Leslie makes landfall in SNE..that ULL iut in front will tend to slow down strengthening and also keep it moving much more west than that silly track NHC has

Damage In Tolland
KFS I actually do think Leslie could be a threat in 7+ days, at least to NEw England. if you are interested I explain a little more in-depth here. http://www.examiner....s-to-be-watched In short, I think the Carolinas north should watch it, particularly Bermuda, New England and into the Maritimes. Baroclinic Zone
Leslie becomes a beast on the 12z GFS. Basically sits there for days S of Bermuda without any major steering.
dryslot
Leslie stays east of here on the 12z gfs but that would be some big surf on the coast, Will come down to timing on these runs to where Leslie ultimately ends up
ChrisM
I'd say there's about a 4% chance that Leslie makes landfall in SNE..the storm will continue to intensify and recurve where that educated, science based track NHC has it. Fyp

CT Rain
I have a hard time seeing more than a gusty wind and rain brush for ACK, but it is early I suppose. The GFS has 2 nice mid west troughs dropping down that match the loading pattern for SNE hurricanes. Part 1 is there... that's the easy part... now part 2 - getting a major hurricane in the perfect spot needs to fall into place.

Interesting to think about ramifications down the road. Hard to say either way of course but I expect some strange things will happen.
