CoastalWx
Maybe if it moves due west into more water, it can try to strengthen more...but it still looks pretty meh on satellite for now.

This phenomenon is real, but I don't know if it will do much. I frankly don't see this being much more than it already is...unless perhaps it spends more time on water. It's been getting more and more time over water so maybe it will, but IMO....I just don't see this really improving a lot more. Probably a little bit stronger. Mr Torchey
Interesting to see meso models keeping isaac offshore for another 10-15 hours. Surge at Shell Beach south of NO already at 6 ft.

Thanks I get the sense (from the lack of posts) that there's alot of uncertainty on how to interpret this trend (Euro, and now HRRR too) showing a west, even slightly southwest motion in the next 12-15 hours, keeping the eye off land, and ongoing strengthening. For the time being, vis sat took a step back in last frames as far as eye clearing out. Next VDM will be very informative.
Damage In Tolland
Starting to get some gusts up near 100mph now with a 91...looks like it's crank time. Man I wish I was down there
free_man
It is all about the devastating destruction 24/7.........lol lol In all seriousness, it's going to be pretty bad. My father is the head mgr of trans. at the power co. They're stationed in Jackson, MS at a conference. He's not too happy about this, retiring in June, so hoping it's the last storm. Mr Torchey
Downplaying the effects of surge and flooding is just as annoying as hyping JB style. The water continues to pile up along the coast and radar will continue to improve over the next 12 hours as the circulation continues to interact with land and the core tightens. Wind damage will be minimal to moderate but as with most canes the story will be the water.

Mr Torchey
Tops beginning to cool on the south and east side of Isaac which may cause a wobble westward, I expect convection to explode this evening during the DM
Mr Torchey
I think most areas are prepared as good as they will be. The city is as prepared as possible, what the army corps of engineers have done is amazing with the levee systems. Communication between local, state and Federal agencies has been top notch. I just hate to see the possibility of Isaac stalling sw of NO, with hours and hours and hours of se winds piling up water along se la and miss. Sugarloaf1989
How soon until the RI to category 5 occurs? I read it here that the storm would be a category 5 with massive destruction. wxsniss
Eyewall closed off on radar finally. See the main thread... unclear to me that the larger outer ring/spiral that is contacting land is actually a closed eye. There's a smaller circle I indicated in the main thread (and that's in your radar post above) that looks like a closed inner eye, with echoes rotating around it if you loop it. Maybe that's what you meant too...
