Riptide
The main shield is just drizzle from Dual-Pol. The heavier reflectivities to the south is just melting layer bright banding. It's only virga, just keep monitoring the wet bulb temperatures; and it should start raining eventually.
wxmeddler
3 hour flash flood guidance is 3.5 - 4" for most places. Not even close to breaking that barrier today.

Mrs.J
While getting our yard ready for our patio install tomorrow and trying to beat any rain, of which we have none yet, heard something up on the deck. Went up and found a pigeon. It is banded and was very tame so we toweled it, I own birds so know how to do this, and wrote down the band numbers. Turns out is from a Club in East Liverpool, OH for racing pigeons. We have contacted the club owner and he is going to get back to us later with the owners name. It is currently in a kennel and we gave it water as the club owner said it was probably thirsty and tired. We are awaiting instructions on what to do with it which will probably involve us releasing it to continue flying back home. Very neat experience. Riptide
Its a couple of weeks earlier this year, but the Labor Day weekend storm in 2002 was kinda similar to this one. Eastern Shore of MD had 5-10" of cold rain from that one. Up your way got hit pretty hard too, iirc. That storm was so different than what the summer pattern had been. Hope this is a similar harbinger. Well, it's definitely not a cold pattern; quite pleasant and still feels like summer.

CoastalWx
Trough northwest and coastal? Well I mean I think the heavier cells are from low level convergence and a little LLJ action, while the lighter echoes moving SW-NE are more from mid level processes. wxmeddler
Only thing worse is if it was January and the mid-level stuff was snow. Forecasted 2-4" and I end up getting a dusting. 0.01" here.

Herb@MAWS
Well to be optimistic on an otherwise pessimistic afternoon so far rain-wise ... the ground, grass and shrubs got a decent 10-min watering, but the rain gauge is stuck on zero.
