Bowleys Quarters is presently under a severe thunderstorm warning,

tornado warning, flash flood warning, and a special marine warning.

That would be fun having a NOAA weather radio down there at this time.

You can listen live to the Baltimore NOAA Weather Radio here: www.wunderground.com/wxradio. Search for the Baltimore transmitter.

Appreciate it, but I was more or less marvelling at 4 separate short-fused warnings in

effect for the same location all at once. I had never seen that before. The alert

tone must have been going off every 2-3 minutes for folks down there.

I was completely sold on meh late evening. Crazy.

pretty unusual to get big cells like that to fire around sunset here. the s/w was just punching in about then though. timing is everything.. once i saw them going up past 40k with the environment over that area which was pretty much as modeled pretty good bet they were off to the races. still, the predominant cell lasted a long time... too bad it was dark..

Well that was a fun storm. Our house finally got into the heavy rain/wind at the last of that back-building portion from the cool loop that Ian posted last page. Around 10:00 when you all were talking about the rotation near Parkville (that's pretty much me) was when it all finally arrived where I am. Before that, one helluva light show for about an hour as the storm pulsed to the west and north.

LOL- taking out the derecho from this season is hilarious. That event in it of itself is more than many entire severe seasons. Add on some ordinary thunderstorms and what is there to whine about?

A terribly hot, dry summer. We have had very little rain in my little corner of the world, let alone thunderstorms. Just because we had one big boomer doesn't mean the summer hasn't been miserable in my neck of the woods. I don't particularly care about getting huge thunderstorms anyways as long as we get some rain.

IMO this has been an above avg to well above avg storm season in the region. I dunno why people act like the derecho was all. June 1 was very anomalous. Then we have had perhaps a dozen other decent events for someone at least. Convection is rarely widespread.

It might have been above average season for out-and-out enthusiasts, but I have to be honest and say that I'm not as big an enthusiast as many others on here. I find weather interesting, but I'm more interested when it affects me. Besides, I like to complain.

i was thinking of you (and the others from that area) last night. Av. Dave and i were talking on FB about the radar. Looked crazy.

The storm(s) were fantastic - the tornado warning wasn't all that exciting (at least for me). But yeah we had hours of thunder and lightning (lots and lots of lightning). The last storm that rolled through around 1130 was pretty loud and I guess the first big strike fried our cable box in the living room. Thankfully the other TVs work, but looks like Comcast is going to have to bring us a new box.

Thats good your TV's weren't fried!

There were several cells that rolled through up here too. Not much wind, but heavy rain and big time lightning, which started several fires. Our Wegmans even got hit!

We think the TV itself is ok - but don't know for sure. It turns on, but with the box not working we have no way of knowing whether the TV is actually ok or not.

ah, i just reread what you said "other TV's" well hopefully it was only the comcast box that took the hit then and that TV is OK.

So , from that warning, was there a confirmation for a tornado?
