EastCoast NPZ
3 7/8" in about an hour and fifteen minutes. What a dang mess it has created. Amazing. I haven't gotten so much as a drop. Both lines of storms today stayed just north, and now there is a very active cell missing us to the west. Anything notable other than the rain? TradeWinds
Did anyone else notcice the strange clouds over southern Frederick County, Md tonite around 7-7:30pm?? They were like waves or drapery. i took pictures but have no clue how to upload them here. My view to the South is somewhat obscured by trees. Maybe you saw mammatus clouds? If you upload to a site like photobucket, you can then link it to this page.
EastCoast NPZ
Whiffed on 3 different storms yesterday from AM through late evening. Caught a pretty decent one at 3:30 AM this morning, however. We are the kings of the middle-of-the-night-wake-you-up-tstorms. Seemingly rained lightly here since the heavy-stuff moved out. Over .9" in the gauge thus far. I use photobucket like Tradewinds suggested. Then copy the direct link and use the Image icon in your reply. It will allow you to paste the direct link and presto we will be able to see what you saw. I was dozing on the couch around 830, heard the very loud thunder, but never checked to see if it was raining or not Nope, not really. Just some light rain, since those cells quickly weakened and didn't really come our way.
TradeWinds
0.45" yesterday and 0.22" today. Nothing headline news worthy but it's rain that soaks into the ground. Far cry from last summer!
MN Transplant
About a quarter inch after the same yesterday. Hopefully we see more later. Nice and cool right now.
The Dude
That N beltway cell is putting down buckets of rain. 6°/km KDP. Yikes! Edit: and with the lower CC it's likely that small hail is mixing in with that rain.. I can confirm there was penny size hail in Kensington. Herb@MAWS
Edit: Now that I had my first real chance to be outside and enjoy the day: 1) It's really nice IN the sun. Temp 80, nice gentle breeze. 2) Cloud ceiling is gone. Upper levels are basically blue sky ... with about 30% clouds at lower levels, so a lot of sunshine going on right now. Good daytime heating ingredient hopefully underway now for later today. 8/9 - 0.33" 8/10 thru noon - 0.32" Temp range today so far: 70.0 to 79.6 (current temp at 2pm)

wxmeddler
Altostratus undulatus asperatus!... One of my favorites! I've seen this before too, it's actually one of the very few cloud types that meteorologists know very little about. Great catch!
Mrs.J
Nice shot! That must of been from that storm to my north near 340. On another note not sure if it is weather related or not, but there are gnats all over.
WinterWxLuvr
Amazing. I haven't gotten so much as a drop. Both lines of storms today stayed just north, and now there is a very active cell missing us to the west. Anything notable other than the rain? Sorry, didn't see this post. The wind became a big deal about an hour into that storm. Lots of limbs down, several uprooted large trees close by. I had an ash snap about 25 feet up. It was about 14" at the point it snapped so that was pretty impressive. The strange part was that that storm was never severe warned and it ended up worse than most of the storms we've had. I've got some good pics if someone could explain to me how to upload them from this iPhone.
