RaleighWx
June and August will both finish below normal for RDU, but yet this met summer will rank in the top 15 all time hottest summers for Raleigh since 1892 thanks to the incredible 6/28 to 7/28 stretch. All and all this summer has been great if you take that 30 day period out. Havent been above 93 in Raleigh since 7/28. We may threaten that today and especially tomorrow. calculus1
August was much drier than July here. My rainfall reports are atypical based on the large numbers that other people are able to post for the month. In fact, I received over 2 inches of rainfall less than I received last year during the same month. Yet, it was also a very pleasant month that was almost 2 degrees cooler than last August. Here are the stats from my PWS for the month: Final August Stats: Hi Temp: 93.3 F (on 8/31, the last day of the month, no less) Hi Temp Above 90: 6 days Lo Temp: 58.4 F (on 8/25) Lo Temp Above 70: 6 days Mean Temp: 74.3 F (compare to 76.1 from 2011) Hi Wind Gust: 16.0 mph (on 8/02) Total Rainfall: 2.26 in (measured rainfall > 0.01 in on 12 different days) Wettest Day: 0.71 in (on 8/19) Rainfall for Year: 31.92 in (Jan - Aug)

WilkesboroDude
5.57 in. Average 4.44 in. I didn't think August was that wet here, but ended up above average according to weather.com. There would be one good storm followed by a week of dry weather throughout the month. Temps ranged from 55 to 90.
