New England Early August Discussion, banter, obs

Dew in the mid to upper 50s for pike northward and mostly 60s CT/RI and hugging the MA coast....but we will only use BDR as the representative for all of southern New England...so today is a hot/muggy/opressive day with 70+ dews.

83.5/64 here, Will, Only 8 miles from the VT line.

I don't like those at all. P & C more often than not don't make any sense.

Agree.

scott or will i have a question and i'm not holding you over the coals but is there much shot of any peaks of sun or anything decent for a couple hours on friday or saturday wx wise @ newport rhode island near the beach. i'm heading down there tommorrow and may stay till sunday. I look'd at models and my local forecast and all that blah blah blah....is there anything in the set up on friday/saturday that says well there could be some am rain then skies may brighten for a couple hours or is that a pipe dream for fri sat...i.e it will most likely be socked in all day. thx guys

My guess is Friday has the best shot. You may be dodging low clouds, but my guess is Friday offers a few hours of sun at least.

Can someone give me an idea of what i can expect for weather on the cape? I am camping with my family Friday and saturday.

Looks a bit unsettled. Southerly flow with the ULL to the west will likely keep us in the clouds with bouts of showers and possibly embedded heavier downpours. Probably not a washout but definitely not the best. Temps will max out in the 70's to near 80 with nighttime lows in the mid to upper 60s.

How's that?

nice to see okx nws upton ny, united states of america scale back tstorm chances to only 20% islolated (tomorrow), mostly sunny humid and 84, perfect day to work.

Weekend should be just fine, especially along the south coast, evening showers and tstorms just the way summer should be.

Nothing....LL has a penchant for posting those remarks without ever referring to any actual forecast. I remember you said the south coast could get humid while the rest of SNE would take a lot longer to advect higher dews in here.

KBDR is not verification for most of SNE...thank God it isn't because all my snowfall forecats in the winter would bust too high,.

I think you are correct

Anything is certainly possible, we saw the cool attack late month at boston that got them down to around + 2, here is how the rest of sne stands thru yesterday

bos +3.7

bdl +4.8

pvd +2.9

Orh +5.2

Always interesting to see how things shake out when the weather is so boring its early

Uncomfortable most of the summer. Hate, hate, hate summer.

I'm with you. By far the most overrated season going. Summer has some perks obviously but by and large, I'm not the biggest fan. This has been a tough one for me. I don't have the greatest heat tolerance in the world and while not epic hot here, it's been consistently very warm enough where it's growing old. The sun has been relentless.

Pete

Speaking of Pete, for all you SNEers, I made it down to God's Country the other day. I've never spent much time in the Berks but being in the orcharding/fruit tree business, I sometimes order gear from a cool outfit in Conway, MA. My wife got me a OESCO gift card last Christmas which I finally cashed in on a 14' aluminum tri-pod pruning ladder. Figured I'd save the shipping and just go down and get in person. Man, it was pretty hot out on I-91 but as soon as I got off and started climbing the east slope, I was in the ice box. ;)

All kidding aside, it was 7-8 degrees cooler in Conway and Ashfield than it was in Greenfield, say. From there, I wound by way up to Burnt Hill in Heath, MA to check out a curious achaeological site I've read about and always wanted to see. Pretty nice country down there. (Not my pic).

I am actually hoping "real" summer wx continues until Aug 26 or so

Then let us go below for 9 months

Please

My daughter and I were watching the dragonflies over the pool as we swam. Love them

My son and his friend are camping in the yard tonight

Perfect

That brings back lots of fond memories, I loved camping in the backyard as a kid! Have fun Dave!
