I'd like to vote to bring SnowNH back to the board. I feel bad for him. Hes on twitter tweeting to me and scooter all the time...and he definitely misses the board.

If LL can post the same repetitive things without reprimand...snowNH should be allowed back. He was no worse, IMO.

What say about MRG ?

We'll probably vote again on it. It's been awhile now.

sun

east based

another PF winter incoming, if its going to be bad, hopefully it will be as warm if not warmer than last winter it was great to be able to work and start spring cleanups on Feb 15th, even though Scooteroo called me nuts, worked out perfectly:)

I teed it up at Blissful Meadows in Uxbridge every weekend except one last winter, and I played on Thursday that week. I've played something like 74 consecutive weeks in Central Mass... unbelievable.

Well, I guess when its been 18 months in a row of above normal temps and no snow, what are you supposed to talk about? Fantasy snow? Fantasy cool downs? Reality blows for snow and cold lovers over the last 20 months thats life. If it ever gets cold or snows I look forward to talk about that.

Yeah it was an incredible winter for sure, one that the old iceepussay argument of "not being able to get out and enjoy the warmth" did not have merit. The courses were open all winter, greens too at a few.........if I were looking for winter weather this coming season I might think about heading way way northwest.

I dunno, a lot of us did have 1-2 feet of snow in October 9+ months ago. A historic feat that will probably not be matched again in our lifetimes.

As for golf in 41F weather? A few do it and like it...most don't and never would.

41 is above average in most spots...you are the warmest spot in SNE. BOS average high is below 41F from 12/18 to 2/27.

Regardless, that is the high temp for the day. Golfing usually takes longer than the 30-60 minutes of the high temp...so its likely you are golfing in temperatures lower than the high temp for the day.

There were exactly 40 days in met winter above 41 for high temps at ORH plenty of them in the 50+ range, not really sure what you are talking about, other sites are even warmer.

You are making this a silly looking semantics battle on your side...there were 13 days that cracked 50F last winter here...I really doubt a high temp of 46F is much more comfortable to go golfing in than a high temp of 41F. That was the point of the post...not that 41F itself is some sort of magical breaking point for golfing in the winter. I chose an arbitrary above average number that still sucks to go golfing in for most people...my hats off to those who like doing it though. I wish I did too.

I did not play a single round of golf last winter, played plenty in March when it warmed up, there are many people who play in a cold winter, the point was last winter allowed outdoor activities because it was warm enough, and many golfers took advantage of that especially on the coastal plain.

The snowfall over the interior last October was an incredible event, no doubting that, and the winter before here was something I will always remember for snowfall and how long the cover lasted. However, the last 20 or so months have been equally impressive on the other side of the spectrum, not only here but across the country. I enjoy talking about extremes whether its sw ct winters or 17 months of above normal in a row. Funny how the only two months below normal for many were last and this June.

Have a great day

Getting back to reality. Today marks the descent down climo wise. It appears that the extreme volatility we experienced the first 5 months of the year in positive temperature abnormalities has backed off. With the great majority of the region experiencing a below normal June and a below normal last two weeks of July it is obvious that the Negative state of the NAO has allowed us to enjoy cooler interludes that were previously missing this year. Going forward normal with less volatility seems to be the case. some warm periods, some cool periods.
