Wonkis
Clouds looked spectacular out there this morning. Sunrise filtering through puffy cumulus rolling in off the ocean... very cool.
CoastalWx
Well that is kind of what we were saying earlier this week. Everything ends up north of progs Not being picky, but sort of right for the wrong reason. We'll have SE winds today which will put a lid on temps somewhat. In any case, the low developing over the Delmarva it appears, may slow the line of storms down across NJ. We'll have to watch CT because you don't want that line of storms to sit in place later on and pivot.
CT Rain
yeah that feature should be the trigger for some good rains overnight. Yeah you can sort of see that feature on the nose of developing 850 jet. I would not be surprised to see some supercells today from NYC area into sw sne

moneypitmike
Actually winds will turn more east tonight ahead of an almost secondary warm front, but I think the trough in the Midwest dug so seeply that it forced the primary well west. So Maine will end up getting some of the weather that was possible here, 3-4 days ago. Leaving us sandwiched in a lighter precip area relative to there and points west. Had a couple peaks of sun here, but mostly just a losing struggle against the overcast. Had a rumble of thunder earlier. I'm banking on .83" when all is said and done. CoastalWx
Not much lightning right now with these cells except down in the Delmarva. Just Ginx rains.

Tropopause_Fold
you can see the tropical airmass nicely on vis sat with the cumulus fields....cool stuff. there's a bit of stratus/fog down here right now obscurring the view, but i'm sure the sky looks awesome with those big low based heavy towers mixed in with blue sky. moneypitmike
LOL, you're gonna get soaked. LOL--we'll see. I'm really just hoping I can run my race tomorrow outside of a downpour. A 450' vertical in .6 miles would be pretty interesting in a deluge. We'll be like salmon.
CT Rain
I'd probably analyze a warm front near Long Island right now with backed winds to the north of it and a weak temperature gradient.

Tropopause_Fold
i wonder if we see that area circled fill in over the next few hours. that area seems to be just north of the secondary warm front trying to take shape:
CT Rain
Agree Phil... I'd watch some discrete stuff around ACY or east of there maybe?
Tropopause_Fold
areas just west of 91 in C/W MA (franklin county?) maybe first zones to go sultan? already getting some S/N oriented downpours.

I think western CT may hoist it soon. I could see something like those echoes down in NJ developing and moving north alonmg with the lone of storms in NY state moving east. I'm wondering if everything briefly slows or stalls in that area..maybe down through NYC and soaks the crap out of them.
