ChrisM
this might be a good run for us...trough axis looks decent energy in canada is further north. EDIT: gah never tilted back enough, looks to slide out
WeatherX
Looks much much better than 0Z....much more energy diving into the base of the trough....90 hours it's 1004mb right on OBX precip breaking out into SNJ
OKpowdah
Shades of last week's clipper that never quite clipped??? Looks like more energy splits off from the bowling ball and dives into the midwest.

Baroclinic Zone
Was the 00z Euro pulling that PV westward like this? If so, I'd give merit to the solution.

mattb65
From my novice point of view, heights built really fast right when we needed them to on this run - was the 500h similar to Euro depiction but the difference being a stronger S/W? meaning the 500h was able to interact with the southern stream and grab it before it scooted ots. NorEastermass128
The differences in Canada between the 06z and 12z are crazy...open up two tabs and put the 06z 90hr and 12z 84 hr side by side. It's crazy.
dryslot
To bad this is not the euro, Look like we are going to need a yard stick to measure it...........

Damage In Tolland
To bad this is not the euro, Look like we are going to need a yard stick to measure it........... if the GGEM and UKIE come significantly west...the Euro will too and then we can type "as we thought"
OKpowdah
The southern trough is hilariously broad and ****ty. yeah, it doesn't sharpen up until it reaches the east coast, and at that point, there's a lot of work to do to pull together a 4000 mile wavelength trough lol
Allsnow
Through hr 120 its a inch plus liquid from Ct blizz-north and east
OSUmetstud
The evolution is pretty interesting. The initial southern shortwave that moves through California is pretty damn anemic in the Mississippi Valley...then some energy comes that originates in the PAC NW around 48 hours comes down the back edge of trough and digs it substantially finally allowing something substantial to develop and crawl up the coast. NorEastermass128
OT - Cool stat, but Boston has not seen measurable snow in 292 days. Record is 303. So if this misses...we can break a record! But I think it means we're due.
