MN Transplant
That is sick. Anyone have the rain rates for the storms over that area? http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KNYQUEEN3&day=15&month=08&year=2012 This station was racking up about 0.4" every 5 minutes for a while. That's around 5"/hour.
WE GOT HIM
That is sick. Anyone have the rain rates for the storms over that area? Yea im about a 1/2 mile away, I had 20.57 max rate at 1:10pm (lasted around that intensity for a little less than 5 min).
Dark Energy
what your saying is that when they do trigger something they'll be getting severe quick right? Well, maybe. A lot of clouds over the area now and the atm has been overworked pretty well. So far there hasnt been anything firing along the low-level convergence associated with the boundaries. It's still too early to write it off tho. Plus, we still have forcing coming in with the s/w trof moving in. Patience.
Stormlover74
Ahh there we go, some activity trying to form west of the parkway say from western Essex down through parts of Union.

Dark Energy
where is the shortwave trough currently located? that is def gonna give some aid in developing some more storms The s/w trough is moving into VA now. The best DPVA is coming right into the area now. Problem is, atm has been worked over pretty good so not sure how much juice there is left to develop deep convection. Shades
Video taken of the hailer from the severe storm which passed through central Queens around 4pm today. I was in Maspeth, with quarter sized hail (although, I would estimate some larger stones; car alarms went off rampantly around the neighborhood). Winds were very impressive as well, and veered with direction as the storm passed through. Pardon the language used in this video… sheer excitement; I don’t see many hail storms in my neck of the woods. Hailstones at the end of the video. http://youtu.be/Oc91defA-wQ
