Guest Pamela
That little tornado passed just a couple of miles from my offices this afternoon...P.A. came on with the warning...the building is sturdy and I sensed the tornado not particularly strong....so I was never genuinely nervous...though a few of my colleagues...somewhat less well versed in the science...seemed pretty scared. NYCSuburbs
Looks like the SPC WRF (below) and the HRRR are showing another round of morning storms, somewhat similar to what was observed yesterday regarding location but apparently a bit less intense:
nyratk1
One thing you learn, TV meteorologists struggle interpreting radar images. The best I saw out of the coverage earlier was Rich Hoffman from News 12 LI. Knowledgeable and he was able to put it in layman's terms for the general populace. Knowledgeable and he was able to put it in layman's terms for the general populace. He did use the SRV to show possible rotation, and Nick Gregory used it a couple of weeks ago, but too many TV meteorologists look lost while trying to explain radar images. earthlight
The lapse rates are still pretty meager to get any huge storms going, otherwise this would be a nice environment for storms to develop overhead.
TheTrials
boy the nam was WAY off last night on the 12z predicted sounding. Nice look here for a morning sounding, but as John says, lapse rates could be the dagger.
