snowlord81
sigh NAM's 2m temps are pretty accurate but it sucks at forecasting clouds and such. Things that inhibit extreme heat. Its been spot on as long as we have stayed sunny.
SpartyOn
The NAM hasn't been all that bad with temps. Hoosier is right though. The ECMWF has been lethal and when combined or blended.

snowlord81
12z NAM continues to suggest possible triple digits here. Thursday and Friday with Friday being the hottest. If no clouds and storms muck it up I would agree.
Hoosier
Thursday and Friday with Friday being the hottest. If no clouds and storms muck it up I would agree. The NAM is basically the "if everything goes right" scenario. Blending the 00z Euro/12z NAM would suggest upper 90s to 100 here tomorrow.
Hoosier
IND bumped Thursday highs to 101 for IND and 99 for LAF.

Chicago Storm
4PM CLI has a high of 90 at ORD today. 36th 90+ day of the year, which makes 2012 tied for the 7th most on record (1954). Topped out at 90 here too. (32nd 90+ day of the year)

Hoosier
Just a bit toasty in Oklahoma today. OKC and Tulsa hit 112, and Enid hit 115. The Tulsa afternoon AFD mentioned 116 or 117 possible in Tulsa tomorrow if things go right. Nuts.
cyclone77
Euro keeps kicking the can down the road with regards to the heat for next week. Looks like the 12z holds off on the real heat until very late in the week now. With tropics beginning to heat up finally the medium range models are going to start becoming a little dicey me thinks. Powerball
Heh, I just saw the bat**** crazy 4km NAM for tomorrow (12z run). Showed 99*F for a high at Metro Airport, lol. 00z 4km NAM has a "cooler" 97*F in comparison.

snowlord81
89 here. Dewpoint has dropped to 45 which is even lower than the lowest guidance. Say goodbye to any moisture left in the ground! Temp at my house is 95.0.
Hoosier
Say goodbye to any moisture left in the ground! Temp at my house is 95.0. It will be interesting to see where we end up. Need 10 more degrees to get to the forecasted high. Normally it is tough to do that unless it's cloudy and then clears out or there is serious WAA, but this airmass is very dry so who knows. Hoosier
Dewpoint at LAF is down to 39! That is practically unheard of for this time of year. 93 for a high so far.
Hoosier
Models picked up on a corridor of lower dewpoints but the effects have been particularly dramatic around here. Edit: 12z GFS forecast 2m dewpoint was 73 for this time. Off by 34 degrees. MAV off by 18.

Hoosier
Probably gonna top out at 95 or 96 here. A little cooler than I was thinking (my call from a couple days ago was 98). Dewpoint has creeped up to 43. Good thing it's not windy or else the fire danger would be wicked high.

cyclone77
93 here today. 94 at MLI. Lots of mid-high clouds kept us about 2-4 degrees cooler than it would have been otherwise. Day #39 AOA 90 here.
kab2791
Hit 93 at DTW, #25 90+ day. Most other locations were slightly cooler, many hanging on in the upper 80s.
michsnowfreak
Hit 93 at DTW, #25 90+ day. Most other locations were slightly cooler, many hanging on in the upper 80s. LOL 93 when everyone else stayed in the 80s. Its a themes that has been going on ALL summer (ie DET has already had FIVE less 90F days than DTW). Its starting to look suspicious. Stebo, any chance they need to recalibrate the thermometer at DTW?
beavis1729
The Tulsa afternoon AFD mentioned 116 or 117 possible in Tulsa tomorrow if things go right. Nuts. Yeah...and it really could have happened today when considering the antecedent air mass and conditions. But an outflow boundary from storms in KS came through, which held the high temp to 112. A nice, cool day. Their all-time high is 114.
beavis1729
Dewpoint at LAF is down to 39! That is practically unheard of for this time of year. 93 for a high so far. 91/39 in LAF at 2:00 PM...RH 16%. I think the lowest RH on record for Chicago is ~15%...not sure about LAF. Either way, it's near-record territory.
