Well unfortunately we have a number of people expecting severe in their backyard where it wasn't really expected. I'm not particularly gung ho for anyone outside of W/C CT.

Ryan did not see any posts like that??? like HM's idea of a squall line tonight with fierce winds all across the state though.

77°F/65°F and partly cloudy. Some pretty good clearing here save for some leftover detritus in the mid and upper levels and even that seems to be clearing out a bit. Starting to look better here now. Almost time to raise the weenie flags!

I'm traveling from Newton back to Greenfield around 4pm. (arrive @ 6pm) I'm guessing that's early enough to keep me from missing the action in W. Ma?

People in metro Boston though. This was always supposed to be NBD... so the vast majority of posters really are out of the game for this one.

We'd be a lot better off if Kevin wasn't gung ho on this event...last year he called 6/1 a bust the days leading up to it and the day of until storms got going.

The problem with today is that two things are currently working against a huge event...ML lapse rates are terrible and dewpoints are not in the 70-73F range on a region wide basis...maybe we can fix the second problem in the next 4-6 hours, but the first issue doesn't look promising at the moment.

Always negative..only met that is..but always negative for severe.

We're fine and everything is right on track

solid clearing in western MA/CT

the DPs are slow to rise, the warm front is taking its time... i wonder if the meso low pointed out will shunt the warmfront further south or will have no effect at all

That was kind of what I was curious about. If it would possibly affect boundaries for later or influence the amount of cloudiness.

Mitch--what's your thinking on weenie flags up in western Franklin?

Vast majority of posters do not live in Boston metro. lol

I would say there is a fair shot of svr for those areas outside of the mdt risk. It would have to be overnight, and may end up being 40-55mph gusts and borderline hail instead of the real severe to the SW....but threat is there and shouldn't really disappoint, imo.

Yeah it's always been a pike south event from the get go..so I guess that might be why Will is so negative while everyone isn't. Who knows?

NWS and SPC both have the severe threat all the way to BOS, I was never thinking tornado, so are we saying boston metro should just expect a passing shower?

"...mainly very late this afternoon and especially

tonight. The highest risk area exists across western Massachusetts/northern

CT...but most of our area has at least some potential for severe

weather"

i think Se mass is in the game more than bos but both areas need to watch for a line /bow echo of storms to race thru toward 9-1am where there will be embedded svr
