Jonger
Lol. Its August what do you expect. That's like saying no to 20s in Feb. There is a major comfort threshold between 75 and 85 degrees. Between 29 and 20F is not as much IMO. Most people are either dressed for it or they stay indoors.

Saw some pea size hail and absolutely torrential downpours with the 15 to 20 minute storm that passed through about 2 hours ago.

Just had a shower and a faint rainbow here! 74° so far for the high. -0.90° for the month.

Yeah, the whole region (Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois at least) has had pretty good luck with rain since mid July. Little complaints about the lack of rain (even though it clearly was too late for the drought troubles. Two nice 15 minute downpours today. wisconsinwx
Now a warning out just south or around Mt Saukville. Btw, temp dropped from 68F to 63.3F with that quick storm.
michsnowfreak
Somehow DTW managed to hit 80 today (morning low 57). Still below normal, but a bit warmer than expected and certainly above everyone else in SE MI lol (hit 77 in Wyandotte). Regardless, warm sunny days and cool nights with large diurnal ranges are perfect for mid-late August, perhaps eliminating worries of earlier drought regarding brilliancy of Fall color. turtlehurricane
Intense cell has been pounding downtown Madison for the past 40 minutes or so. 40+ mph gusts and torrential downpours, some of the heaviest rains I've seen since leaving Florida. 1-2" of rain probably, minor flash flooding. Also there were whitecaps on Lake Mendota Feels refreshing out, low 60s.

turtlehurricane
Awesome time lapse! Get any hail? Only one little shower here today. No hail, I think it was on the downswing by the time it got here. I bet the NW shore of Lake Mendota got raked, that's where it was when it was peaking. These storms have a very quick lifecycle due to low wind shear, much quicker than standard severe weather.
cyclone77
Only 0.09" of rain here from some anvil rain as storms split and went around us again. MLI received nothing at all. They're now -8.41" since June 1st.
dmc76
Jonger you can turn off the "best forecast" back to the NWS. Best forecast is awful. Dry/boring pattern this week with temps reaching 83-87 Thursday through early next week before the next shot of cooler air...good going to the pool and drinking beer weather. Death Ridge really building west of the rockies. Does it stay west or does slide back to the central of the US?

Long range models say it slides East, those who were saying summer is over and no more heat to come, might not want to look long range.
Geos
Kinda cool this morning seeing storms over the lake with the sun shining low around the clouds. Nice dewy morning at 57°. Had a little fog about an hour ago. CPC at least shows below normal temperatures (overall) over the Central Plains through both time periods. Hopefully if the ridge swings back this way, it will bring only typical warm temperatures with it and not ridiculous + departures.
