The low is just sitting on top of me. Dry air must be working into this system, I'm stuck in the dry slot.

Radar shows 2 inches since yesterday. I really want more though, the deeper it goes into the soil... the better.

The center of the low is over the city.

The bulk of the clouds have mixed out for now.

Sun's out and temps have warmed into the low 70s.

Sort of like the eye of the hurricane. looking at the SAtellite.

We've been dry slotted quite frequently with this system here in Flint. Still got quite a bit of rain but areas around us, especially to the north and east, have gotten a lot more rain. Got woke up this morning by the NOAA alert for flood warnings in the northern counties.

Edit: According to the daily report, Flint got 1.22" as of 6AM.

The weekly drought monitor should look a little better this week. 1.5" and still raining in West Michigan.

Yes and that area needs it bad. We were at Sandy Pines Resort near Hopkins last month and it was dry as a bone and the lake was down 2-3 feet. I waded almost to the middle of the lake at the south end. Got the pontoon anchor snagged up on a bunch of other anchors on a stump right off where the channel comes in. Had to go in after it and was touching bottom there while I wrestled it out. Usually that's a foot or two over my head in that spot. And the water temp was well into the 90's... like bathwater.

Drought still going strong in...

Van Buren, Berrian, St.Joesph, Branch, Calhoun, Eaton and Jackson counties. This Rain did little to nothing to the drought.

Dtx says let's do it all again next weekend

TEMPERATURES WILL BRIEFLY REBOUND TO AROUND 80 ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOONS AS HEIGHTS BUILD AHEAD OF A MORE VIGOROUS WAVE EMBEDDED IN THE NW FLOW ALOFT. SIMILAR TO THE PRESENT SCENARIO, THE WAVE WILL AMPLIFY AS IT DIGS TOWARD THE GREAT LAKES BEFORE CLOSING OFF AND POTENTIALLY ESTABLISHING ITSELF OVER THE AREA TO START NEXT WEEKEND.

A flood advisory/warning should be issued for the northern Suburbs soon.

Looks like some pretty decent t'storms have gone up, they're not moving much either.

Missed me jussst to the NW, kinda disappointed. Frequent thunder in the distance.

We're torching today, 76*F at City Airport.

Forecasted high was 70*F.

DET has been several degrees warmer than DTW all afternoon, thats a rare bird lately.

Looks like officially at DTW the high today was 74F, forecast high 70F on this mornings forecast issuance. But thats actually less of a bust than yesterdays forecasted afternoon high of 76F which ended up only being 67F. Easy to overlook though as the actual high was 73F set in the wee morning hours.

Saginaw (MBS) now up to 6.56" since 1 am, and 7.66" since yesterday.

This rain event was the rainiest calendar day on record and propelled Saginaw into 5th wettest summer on record, with wettest summer on record less than 2 inches away. August 2012 is now the 7th wettest month all time there with 21 days to go in the month. It's funny how anomalous days can skew an entire record book.

So true. I dont think Detroits ever had a 2-day monsoon of so much rain in their records, but Id have to double check. DTW is not even at an inch for the 2-day total lol.

I just got back from an absolute monsoon that was in Rochester. Headed about 10 Miles North to Partly sunny skies. Amazing.

Friend on facebook posted a pic of the sky from Troy. And one of my friends is headed down to meet me and he just drove through it and he said in his rearview mirror the sky is black, looks like the end of the world lol.
