Looks like rain/storms are building closer to the western shore of Lake Michigan. Racine getting hit by a pretty good cell right now. RPM model showed rain straight through the lunch hour tomorrow for NE IL.

Down to 62° currently.

Edit 11pm: Thunder increasing from cells approaching from the NNE.

Excellent photos Joe! Didn't get to see anything like that here. Almost looks like the sky is on fire!

Wow at the sunset photos Joe. Awesome catch.

Thanks. Everything came together at the perfect time.

You obviously can't tell in the picture, but the ragged clouds in the lower right were actually moving in off the lake...so that just made it even more interesting.

The last few days had been looking like a pretty wet period for us, but we only picked up a few hundredths here. Same for MLI. If we wouldn't have picked up that 2"+ rain last week this would have been extremely disappointing here. Unfortunately for many areas just southwest (like MLI) they didn't get much from that storm last week and this rain event was a complete fail yet again for them. Hopefully the weekend rain chances can produce.

NAM has gone back to struggling to get to 70 here tomorrow. Looks kinda close on the Euro too from what I can tell. Gonna need sustained overcast and probably some precip to have any shot.

No chance. Sun is already out here this morning, though mixed with some clouds, but still...

Regardless, should be a gorgeous day.

Getting some moderate to heavy rain right now... Right in that small finger of returns extending SE from the main deformation zone through Oakland country

Well defined placement of the "low" right now. Moves a little more north. Dry slot/Fog all day but it looks to be sliding more east.

4.55" of rain at Saginaw (MBS) and it doesn't look to stop any time soon as they should be in the bullseye of the rotating precip through the day.

Looks like Saginaw will break their all time rainiest day record. The old record was 5.51" set on September 10, 1986.

So far the daily total is 5.21" so that record should fall within the hour. Storm total is currently 6.36"

Total rainfall imby over the last 24 hours was 1.19". Will be interesting to see what we get today. There are actually a few rays of sun right now here while its absolutely pouring in the Saginaw Valley.

Thank god this system did not happen in Winter. Swing and a miss!
