Rarely. Smart phones changed it all.....

LOL, remember Boston GTG when we called like every hour all night, booed Barry B but in the end he was spot on. First bar ever been told to quiet down in. Forced to the back room because of a GFS run. Who would have thought a bunch of weenies could be so loud.

Lol...I've told the story of getting thrown out of the main room for whooping it up when the 0z runs were rolling in....most are simply incredulous.

One of my favorite GTGs, met the new faces and Mark Webster finally. Introduced TB to the crew. I walked in and no one was there except some guy with a laptop. Walked right over to him, looked over his shoulder, he was on Eastern, said yep right place.

i do not like that it is still humid...

Really?? I haven't checked the #s today but it felt perfect leaving the hospital today, cool and not too humid feeling... Even with a long sleeve shirt and pants, it felt great. I was thinking that it was just about exactly my idea of an ideal summer day.

Guess everyone has their own preferences.

This morning was a bit humid but it cleared out and turned gorgeous

working outside all day, the wx was wonderful compared to the preceeding few days...but i just went out to the grocery store, and the humidity has bumped up again...not a fan...

Dew points pretty low here at 56° F. Nice backdoor front came in from the NE around here. It was quite visible on the Albany, NY radar earlier.

Unfortunately, the overrunning rains out in NY and PA are running into a wall of confluence and drier air meaning it will dry up and get pushed SE as it approaches us. It kind of reminds me of a SWFE in the winter running NW to SE and getting shunted out beneath us. We really need rain as I've missed out on the convective stuff.

yup, i was looping the radar/satellite and i'm envious of those getting rain...didn't get much of anything yesterday...my triple birch is yelowing and dropping leaves...and of all thing, my forsythias are droopy...

i would like to have a dew point of 49...i bet that would feel amazing...

Forsythia don't usually droop unless it's a bad drought. They're drooping a bit here as well. Pretty much nothing left to the lawn at this point.

My neighbor's katsura tree has now lost 99% of it's leaves as they're not very drought tolerant. Katsura usually thrives in this New England upland climate. I wonder if it'll die.

Even some of the regular species such as the ashes, maples and birches are showing signs of water stress as they have some yellow leaves. Oaks are fine for now.

The water stress is worst on the ridge tops as those locations are naturally drier. Lots of understory drooping and even some leaf loss now in the high spots.

If Pete were here, him and MPM would be claiming they already see trees changing color and losing leaves in the high terrain. Poor Pete.

I'm excited. It's a boy! Now to decide names.

Congrats! There is nothing else liking having a family and a little baby boy to grow up in your footsteps. Very exciting times aheade. Thsi is the ultimate joy in being a parent. The best thing that has ever happened to me was my son that is know 3 years old.

Also just putting my two cents in. It is a shame about Pete being banned. Yes did you go to far, hit too many buttons. But why ban him from all, why not just ban him to all except this region. Seems like things here are taken to literal sometimes. This is just a weather forum. It is not life and death. Just my two cents not trying to intrude. I read this region everyday. Very entertaining and very informative region and again congrats CoastalWx!

Mine, too, then. Not trying to troll.

They tried banning him from the other subforums. That didn't stop the troublemaking; he kept stirring the pot in here. It's true, AmWx is not life and death; but AmWx is also not Pete's franchise to fool around with -- or yours or mine, or anybody's who hasn't put signature to paper to make this space possible for us.

The suggestion has been made, and I thought it a good one, that if Pete's friends are really that put out by his banning, then they should have some pride and stand up for their friend and boycott the board. Tell management, "If this place can't accommodate my friend then it can't accommodate me." They could maybe start a new board of their own and have Pete as a mod. I have it on good authority it ain't that hard. SNE is packed to the rafters with meteorological talent, enough to get any new enterprise off to a roaring start.

Anyhow, people need to either DO SOMETHING or shut up about it and turn the page. Friends of mine have been banned, too, but I didn't turn any subforum into a mausoleum in their memory. Pete not only asked for what came to him, he begged for it. So he got it. What can one do about that?

See sig. lol

A boycott would just get more SNE posters off the board and drop the overall forum IQ

I don't know why this should be of such concern to you down in NC.

Most of us didn't mind him stirring the pot because it was harmless jest (most of the time). I don't think the outside the region people understand the dynamic between certain people in this forum. Part of of it is because people have met in person so the online ribbing, teasing, etc. is kind of tongue in cheek a lot.

Believe me the idea of bolting here has probably crossed a lot of people's minds lately, but I have friends from years past in other regions and it would be preferable to work it out and not have a total schism.
