Chicago WX
ORD has broken the 20" mark for the season so the prospect of the first back to back sub 20" winters since the 1920s has been avoided. And moved out of the top 10 least snowiest seasons on record list. Need to get to 23.9" to move out of the top 20. 19.6" at ORD for DJF is good for 40th place on the least snowiest meteorological winter list. 0.7" for this met Spring already up to 8th place (tied) for the least snowiest MAM. IWXwx
So, I can't find it, but Alek laughed at me earlier when I said that ORD was going to blow by me for seasonal snowfall totals.
RCNYILWX
Would be one of if not the biggest rallies of all time if this next system produces well and another event or two occurs the rest of the month to bring ORD within striking distance of the seasonal normal. It's quickly turning into just a ho hum below average season around there.

Here's an update to a chart I posted a while back... As you can see there isn't a year on that list that had back to back months rally with well above (3.0"+) normal monthly snowfall. We'll see how it goes...
Jonger
I will laugh if Chicago shows an average or above season when this ends. 50 years from now we will skim over this season as a non-event.

Future weather historians (the future Josh's, Tim's, etc.) won't see it as a non event. It will be great analog material.

As you can see there isn't a year on that list that had back to back months rally with well above (3.0"+) normal monthly snowfall. We'll see how it goes. Nice chart. Normal is 5.6" so this next storm could already get ORD to normal or better for the month. Then after the few days of milder weather, the ensembles/teleconnections still look good for a potentially colder than normal and active pattern. So it could be an interesting month.
