With the next surge of heat expected to bring temps into the upper 90s and perhaps the century mark. Here are list of records highs for the next two days.

7/18: 100 (1982)

TTN:

7/18: 100 (1953)

JFK:

7/17: 97 (1969)

7/18: 95 (2010)

LGA:

7/17: 98 (2006)

7/18: 100 (2006)

NYC:

7/17: 100 (1953)

7/18: 101 (1953)

Higher dew points may be putting a cap on potential high temps. Not impressed with current temps approaching noon, generally low/mid 80s. We'll probably hit 90 today, but not much more.

Latest NWS revised NYC's highs down to 91, 94, 93 for the next three days respectively.

We need to mix out the higher dew point air. Boston is warmer than most of us right now at 86F with NWLY winds and mid 60s tds.

Tomorrow will be drier, and as a result, temps will be able to rise more efficiently. Once it rained last night, I knew today would be cooler/more humid than progged, because the ground had to dry first. Tomorrow, there will be no such thing. Even so, my temp is a few tenths away from 92 at the moment.

Also have clouds limiting a bit today. Tomorrow looks in my mind the hotter day with wed may be dealing with some clouds again.

Dews are mixing out nicely today but clouds are rolling in... only two that have a chance today are EWR (20% chc to get to 100) and LGA which could maybe near 98. Tomorrow you wont see any records as we only have until around noon to really heat before clouds and storms reach, although we may be in the mid 90s with dewpoints low 70s by that time.

Although NYC topped out at 100°, that made 2012 the 3rd consecutive year with a 100° or higher reading. Only once before since 1869, has NYC had a stretch of 3 or more consecutive years with a 100° or higher reading. The four-year period from 1952 through 1955 holds the record.

The 1950s strike again. We're reliving that decade to a certain extent; long term PDO/AMO cycling doesn't fail...
