Lol that map is utter nonsense

Tools used in the U.S. Drought Outlook (USDO) included the official CPC temperature and precipitation outlooks for August 2012 and thelong lead forecast for August through October 2012, various medium- and short-range forecastsand models such as the 6-10 day and 8-14 day forecasts, the most recent 384-hour GFS total precipitation amounts, the soil moisture toolsbased on the Constructed Analog on Soil (CAS) moisture, the Climate Forecast System (CFS, versions 1 and 2), the four-month Palmer drought termination and amelioration probabilities, climatology, and initial conditions.

July 28- Aug 5. Ocean City, NJ. 90 ish and humid overall?

Rarely dp you see 90 there...strong sea breeze blows most days with the highs coming in the late morning. mainly mid 80's most days. Really nice stuff.

during big heatwaves however, the wind blows from the west bringing the hot air, greenhead flies from the bay/marshes and pushes the warm water out to sea--not fun-thankfully they don't see it that often.

I think any good met would tell you they would never put any stock in that computer generated garbage. We are in a drought now and it's worsening. The lawns, record low rivers and wells drying up daily are telling the real story. BDL is 7 inches below normal for the year. 7 inches

During the past 2 weeks, light rainfall (1-2 inches) in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, combined with triple-digit heat in the later region, have caused some deterioration (D0 and D1) in both areas. The Delmarva Peninsula remained in D2 as significant precipitation continued to bypass this area in both the long and short term. Although the short and medium-term models predict some moderate to heavy rain amounts in the mid-Atlantic and lower temperatures, there are no clear indications in the August and ASO precipitation outlooks for dry or wet odds (equal chances). But since most of the D0 and D1 have recently developed in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic (short-term), a brief period of wet weather could alleviate the accumulated deficiencies (2 to 4 inches at 30- and 60-days) - hence the Some Improvement label. Farther west, however, the deficits are larger, and the August and ASO temperature outlooks favorably tilt toward above-normal temperatures and subnormal precipitation. Accordingly, development was added to the far eastern Ohio Valley and central Appalachians.

Forecast confidence for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions is moderate.

Really? never been there, shore break can be lots of fun with a skim board.

Yeah its a great place, as you know the beach is always changing, so who knows exactly what conditions he will have. I just want to see some tan pics upon his return.

Kevin have a fantastic time............be very careful that stretch of beach is notorious for heavy shore break, undertow and rip currents.

I grew up in Jersey(first 7 yrs of my life) so we always went to Manisquan and i remember the waves/breakers as a kid.

I've never been to OC though. Going with a huge crew of kids and my wife's sister and brother..so should be a blast..
