Thanks Joe. I was up since 4:30 because of that..lol. We are having our folks up for a surprise dinner and opening. We are having a bakery do a pink cake for girl and blue for a boy. So, we won't know until we open the box.

WHat a wonderful time in your life!

First sledding experience in the winter of 2013-14?

Pretty rowdy storms up here last evening. Hope you all get into the action today.

Soupy and upper 60s this morning.

I was in Europe most of that Summer of 88.. I understand it almost never went under 70 for a low for a month in the Hudson Valley. The heat broke right around the time I came home.

As to last night's rain. It was .32" If you add up Saturday, Sunday and overnight....it is just shy of an inch. Not sure how much good it did when each time it was dried right up by the searing sun.

Boy the pattern in the Plains looks to continue. Maybe that heat retros enough for them to get some nocturnal storms...but this has shades of 1988. 1988 remains one of the worst natural disasters for this country.

Considering that ALB hit 98 yesterday and SYR hit 102.... I think it's going to be rather difficult to top that.

It's gonna have to happen with the next 2-3 weeks because the sun angle really begins to matter after that....in terms of hitting those kind of extremes.

I truly believe that Jerry was right when he said he saw the ridge slide east in a natural progression as we head into August.. I still think we get a more sustained taste of what the rest of the country has seen, and I strongly disagree that we have seen our warmest days.

I caught the first part of it...June and early July. I was working in the steaming back room of a Roy Rogers cooking their fried chicken mostly. Sometimes going out to the searing parking lot to deal with the trash. They had the boom box always playing...that Pebbles song Mercedes Boy, George Michael's Monkey, INXS.... The one that played like twice an hour that month was Night and Day by Al B. Sure. LOL I was glad to get out of the country. :)

Summer of 1988 (esp August) is burned in my memory as the most miserable one with regard to heat and humidity. Relentless swamp azz

Well...it's only 73 up here right now so for those who want cooler weather, hopefully the front pushes through for you soon.

Yeah cooler but still humid. Its 71/65 and feels moist...I'd almost rather it be mid 80s if the dew was 45. I have just been loathing any humid weather this summer..but the heat hasn't bothered me.

Either way...dry air enroute soon.

Hey be glad you weren't in Delmar yesterday! I had to take the old 98 Camry with no a/c down there and it was brutal. My sister had borrowed the CRV. I go into the McDonalds on Delaware Avenue and the a/c was broken. That Walmart parking lot in Glenmont was searing. ALB was 98 around that time. No idea what we hit here on the hill, but probably 92/93 maybe...

Yeah Rick, im sure some specific locales may have seen there highs for the season, I would still be cautious with the ridge to our west and the ongoing drought and dry soil conditions.

that is the big wildcard here-anything coming east will be hotter than usual due to the expanse of dry soil out there...
