kab2791
Temps aloft at 850 have warmed from 19 to 22 throughout the day...earlier progs had those temps increasing to +25 during the evening. Temps should have no problem reaching around 102 or slightle higher, despite the CU field.

Hoosier
Numerous spots in WI/MI have cracked 100. Shouldn't be too surprising as that is where the core of the thermal ridge was supposed to be now.

Ajdos
... Several locations once again hit the century mark... Several locations have once again hit the century mark this afternoon. This Marks the third time this year many locations have reached this mark. For many locations this moves the Summer of 2012 up the all time list for reaching this benchmark. For Detroit Metro Airport 100 degrees has been reached three times this year. This puts 2012 third on the all time list for reaching this temperature... behind 1988 when it was reached 5 times and 1936 which hit it 8 times. Below is a table for dtw. Detroit Metro Airport reaching or exceeding 100 degrees: 1936 - 8 times 1988 - 5 times 2012 - 3 times For Flint Bishop Airport hitting 100 degrees ties 2012 for fifth on the all time list which also occurred in 1930. This is behind 1934 which hit this mark 8 times... 1936 which hit it 7 times... 1931 which hit it 5 times and 1988 which reached this mark 4 times. Below is a table for fnt. Flint Bishop Airport reaching or exceeding 100 degrees: 1934 - 8 times 1936 - 7 times 1931 - 5 times 1988 - 4 times 2012/1930 - 3 times

stormtrackertf
Just went walking around Midtown to pick up a few pizzas so I didn't have to cook anything today, the AC is having enough trouble keeping it cool as it is. Breeze or no breeze...it is extremely hot out there to put it lightly, especially in such a highly urbanized area. I do not envy the guys in the back cooking. IWXwx
FWA should easily tie and probably break their record of 100° today. If so, only two to tie and three to break the record for most 100º days in one year (8 in 1934). 2 bummers. #1-When I posted that this morning, I was looking at yesterday's record. Today's record is 99, which they have tied. #2 -Unless there was a between hour bump, 100 is out the window due to convection.

Chicago Storm
100 still very much in play at ORD considering that ob. Looks like we'll have to wait until the 4PM CLI to see if there was an intra-hour bump.

BowMeHunter
Milwaukee has hit 100, 3rd 100+ of the year. Breaks the old daily record of 98 Nice! would have sucked to of .rotted at 99. Euro doesn't look, too, terrible, surely nothing we can't handle. End of the run we'll be knocking on August door already along with the days getting shorter by 2+ mins and the average high temp starts its slow trek downward. Advantage, icepu$$ies soon enough for me. amazing how summers here with so much to do just fly by no matter how miserable the weather.

Chicago Storm
Looks like we'll have to wait until the 4PM CLI to see if there was an intra-hour bump. CLI has a max of 99 at ORD and MDW. 101 at UGN. Topped out at 98 here.
Hoar_Frost
Looks like 99 here for a high, which is the 34th day this year AOA 90 and the seventh in a row. Slightly more Cu than expected (though never extremely high coverage) prevented the year's sixth 100+; the most favorable thermal ridging was just to the north. *Probably* will get another 90+ in tomorrow before the streak looks to end on Thursday in at least some clouds. stormtrackertf
Wonder if we broke it intra-hour...according to TWC, we topped out at 103 but I remember that one day we hit 99 in June, they had us listed at 100 so I'm skeptical. 000 SXUS73 KDTX 172030 RERDTW RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DETROIT/PONTIAC MI 430 PM EDT TUE JUL 17 2012 ...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE TIED AT DETROIT MI...
