powderfreak
One thing I will say though that does annoy me around here is that it seems like BOX and OKX in their densely populated CWAs can verify any severe thunderstorm warning with the most minor tree damage. We've sent crews to places where "trees are down" only to find a dead limb dangling from a power line. I think it probably leads to "overwarning" marginal storms. Then on the flip side you have offices like BTV that need to seek out reports in rural areas to try and verify warnings. They have this public statement this morning: 000 NOUS41 KBTV 051307 PNSBTV NYZ026>031-034-035-087-VTZ001>012-016>019-051715- PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT 907 AM EDT THU JUL 5 2012 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON VERMONT IS REQUESTING STORM DAMAGE INFORMATION FROM AROUND THE REGION FROM THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON JULY 4TH. IF ANYONE HAS RECEIVED ANY WIND DAMAGE...WIND GUSTS OR HAIL...PLEASE CONTACT US VIA THE STORM REPORT LINK ON OUR HOME PAGE OR CALL US AT 1 800 863-4279. WE ALSO WOULD LIKE RAINFALL TOTALS AS WELL. WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR INFORMATION FROM STORMS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS/TIMES: CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY FROM 500 PM TO 600 PM. WASHINGTON...ORANGE AND WINDSOR COUNTIES FROM 630 PM TO 730 PM. RUTLAND...WINDSOR...ADDISON AND ORANGE COUNTIES FROM 800 PM TO 1000 PM. $$
CoastalWx
I wonder, with the late day moisture advection, lowering surface pressures and s/w moving in, if we can muster up an evening MCS threat from southern New England to PA / NJ. The slower evolution of this weekend may just change the character of the convection. It looks like Saturday may be a NJ day for good tstms. NJ may be at a point where CAPE and shear are nicely tied together.

They all show a sharp front moving through 6UCT Sunday. Somone along I84 will get clocked several hours prior to the fronts arival.

weatherwiz
Lapse rates on the 12z/18z runs are actually quite good along with very solid shear. However, moisture is going to be a major issues and we have horrible instability.

Damage In Tolland
I'm actually shocked at the D3 slight Well you being shocked and the Euro wiping out much of SNE with damage are 2 main reasons why everyone is so pumped and things look so good for a widespread destructive outbreak
wxsniss
I'm actually shocked at the D3 slight Well there's a D4 too further southeast... same front, same mechanism, and pretty good model consensus
Logan11
I hope I'm too far northwest for that junk. Loving my 3 + weeks of dry wx and rapidly browning grass. Lapse rates on the 12z/18z runs are actually quite good along with very solid shear. However, moisture is going to be a major issues and we have horrible instability.
