Mt. Holly Severe Threats

perhaps it isn't the interpretation thats faulty but the fact that a day 2 threw the d word out there as a headline on Wednesday. Granted, they said possible but once you say that the cat is out of the bag.

Yup in todays world people will pick the one word in a sentence and just focus on that and not pay attention to context. That is why you have to be careful with what you say always.

I get what moderate risk and 45% mean. Obviously you do as well. I'm not picking nits at the level of risk and I don't think yesterday was a bust...I do think headlines only drum up hype...and that gets media types to froth about another 6/29 when those are very rare storms and treating it like its certainty.

There's a difference between our interpretation of spc outlooks and the rest of the world...and 95% of folks who get WX info wouldn't know how to interpret the info...but unfortunately see headlines in the discos and run with it.

most of the world doesn't get their info from WX boards or knows really how to define severe WX...they get their info from someone on tv who is feverishly hyping up the headline without talking the substance within the discussion.

I'm done ranting...I guess because I deal with public I am a bit more sensitive to managing expectations given that derecho was trending in social media. It had to start somewhere.

I think the chase team of Ryan and Lee are now at 100% of picking the right areas. Please, two chases? One tornado in Maryland, another in NEPA? That's damn good odds...

Go play the lottery...LOL!

Back to radar, same area in northern pa that got hit yesterday look to cash in again today. Albeit, not anywhere near as bad. But rains for them.

Down our neck of the woods, to put it scientifically, MEHHHH

SPC was still using the d word at 6:00 last evening in a MD. I was surprised when they put it out.

SERIOUS CONCERN EXISTS FOR WIDESPREAD SWATHS OF WIND DAMAGE INTO THE

EARLY/MID EVENING HOURS WITHIN WATCHES 525/527. ISOLATED TORNADOES

ALSO REMAIN A CONCERN ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHEAST NY AND ADJACENT

PARTS OF EASTERN PA/NORTHERN NJ...WITH WIDESPREAD WIND DAMAGE

OTHERWISE EXPECTED TO STEADILY SPREAD EAST-SOUTHEASTWARD TOWARD THE

COAST WITH A FAST-MOVING SEVERE MCS/DERECHO.

Lee nice to meet you as well. Michelle was so excited yesterday driving back she wanted to see more. I still haven't reviewed my video.

Nice to meet you both yesterday and Ryan.

Looks like we just missed the Montrose tornado yesterday by minutes.

As Forbes very well knows, whether it was serial or not, it has to have a certain distance traveled with a certain length over a certain time producing widespread severe wind reports with SIG SVR too. Obviously yesterday wasn't a derecho and neither was that overnight POS he was tweeting about either.

Yeah, I was thinking that yesterday's event was not a derecho either thus I was a bit surprised when I heard him call it a serial derecho.

You too man, like I said to Lee, I apologize if I came off like I had an attitude yesterday, getting 1 hour sleep in 48 hours, I was a hurtin pup.

You to me were perfectly fine, i already had the knowledge of you being so extremely tired, so i knew you might be crankie and you werent bad so no worries.

Btw the LEAN or Delco-NJ chase team can have easier more frequent chases now, I got the green light at work that a co-worker that does what i do said he is looking for as many extra hours as he can get, so if we have a few more events like yesterday, i just have to give him a days notice and its good to go. So there will be future chases for sure.

I meant more that you may not see anything worth chasing in the area, but whatevs. I like your guys' enthusiasm...

I am not worried, even if we dont have anymore which i suspect we should have at least one or two more shots, i think we had a very successful chase year already. Very proud of our team. And thankful for how good they are.

^ wow, cool pic Voyager...

From the MH fb page today...lock it up! SREFs do show some decent cape over jerz this afternoon...

"

Looks like a Mount Holly special today in terms of severe thunderstorm activity as a strong mid-level piece of energy moves down from the Great Lakes and passes overhead...during peak heating. Should provide more than enough lift to get the storms going who can then tap into a "decent" amount of instability! Check it out!"
