moneypitmike
40's here in this part of SNE. With a forecast low of 49 I'll bet the glen here pulls a 45-46. Sunday Night Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 49. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. My p/c has 50*, my zpf has upper 40's. My gut for the Pit says I'll get 56*. But, when I see I had 54* two nighits ago and 58* thre nights ago, perhaps those forecasts will verify.

When we got in yesterday after a week away, I turned the fan on in the bed room. By bed time, my wife admitted she was cold so off it went. Besides in the miserable summer months, I flee to higher ground in the Catskills. Much cooler up there once I'm above 1800'.

ski MRG
It also makes you not smell and bag not stuck to thighs. Here in GC we have indoor plumbing which allows us to shower frequently so smelling bad isn't an issue. We don't really get bag/thigh sticking weather here. Reason # 3,231 to live in the Highlands. ski MRG
Imagine how bad his hair smells in this heat Why are you guys always thinking about smelling my hair and my bag? It's a little creepy and I may have to report this to Grandpa. Also, you really are failing to grasp the concept that there isn't any high heat here. 70's Blizz, the high here today didn't get out of the 70's. snowman21
Living above 1500' is the best. I can't wait to move away from the coast. 1500 feet is hardly highlands. It affords you a seven degree temperature difference on a good day. If you don't live on Mt. Washington and claim to live in the highlands you are lying. People in other parts of the country would laugh at us New Englanders and our big elevation - even down in Dixie you can find higher elevations. While it is true that compared to some communities in, say, Alaska, 1500' is relatively low. However, relative to the surrounding geography this is most certainly the Highlands. That is why this area is called "the Highlands" and while I'm in the 60's now you are probably still around 80. Yeah, I'll take the Highlands of Massachusetts to the swampy marshland of SW CT anyday. I'm guessing that I have a much more intimate knowledge of true "highlands" so please, no didactic reponse.

scoob40
Nothing was impressive about the torch in SNE today...BOS/ORH corridor busted by 10F from this morning's forecast...that is a huge bust. South of the pike only busted by about 5F but was still cooler than forecast. If this was a cold snap with temps forecasted to be in the 60s and instead we had temps in the 70s to near 80F, there is zero chance that people wouldn't be saying how much of a bust that was and how the cold shot under performed. Your statement is incorrect. It is an absolute lock that MRG, MR.Ginx amd MPM have ever uttered those words.

CoastalWx
4 of the last 6 days have features lows that have had a greater + departure than highs for BOS. Only one day July 1st had a high above 90. It's no wonder temps don't seem to be that bad since nobody feels that uncomfortable with temps near 70 at night. Temps in the 80s just are not a big deal. BOS avg high of 81 is a product of location. I'm sure areas just inland are less in the + departure. Not trying to spin it, just saying how it is. I do think my call near +2 could be in trouble especially since overnight lows will kill BOS without onshore flow.

Logan11
Early August 1983 we passed through Lake Placid at 6:30 AM and the thermometer by the Olympic Rink said 33F. Then we went to the HoJo's Restaurant and had breakfast. Eventual destination ..camping at Gatineau Park above Ottawa. That HoJo's Restaurant is one the last three in operation today. Another one is in Lake George. 65 here now...slow to drop, but a refreshing cool dry breeze. SLK has a shot at U30s for 3 straight mornings. ORH_wxman
MET is ripping out a 91F at BOS again....I'll take the under. The MAV 87F might even be too high, but much more realistic IMHO.
Logan11
That's a bummer! I remember when the Mass Pike rest areas were mostly (or all) HoJo's Restaurants. Good memories of our trips out to the Cape in the 70's. You may be too young to recall that....
