I meant to post this yesterday but was rather busy/short on time. But I ask people to say a prayer for my mom. She broke her leg thursday night (she tripped over a fan and fell) and had to have surgery 2 days ago. She ended up breaking her femur and what made it worse is she has a disease/condition that makes her bones real brittle so it shattered rather than having one of those normal breaks.

The good news is she is doing better, in fact I just got off the phone with my dad and said she is doing good with the theropy. She is tired of being in the hospital and hopefully will be released but she has a low pain tolerance and all the moving around so forth will likely make her hurt more.

The ironic thing is, just several months ago her mom/my grandmother broke her hip falling. I can tell you this has been a real sh*tty year. I've lost 4 pets, including one I loved to death as I mentioned here, and now all this. Plus I've been dealing with some sort of gut condition that has caused me to lose 28 pounds since January and all the tests (you know what kind) have come back negative. So I have to go to a specialist to see wtf is going on.

But any prayers for her (and my dad too who will have to look after her when I can't), would be greatly appreciated.

Just unreal how bad it's been and it's only July. :axe:

Lookout you and your family will be in my prayers. Also be sure that they make sure she does not develope anykind of blood clots.Very dangerous when dealing with somthing like this. Take care and good luck!

Thank you so much. As for the clots, This was and is my biggest worry. After the shock she did it, that is what popped into my mind..maybe 10 minutes after I was told about it. She's 63 and it really concerns me a lot. Since she's been in the hospital they had methods to make that a lot less possible. But I worry about it after she gets home today and in the days and weeks to come.

Absolutely, will do.

Thank you so much too and I know she does too.

Ya and i am sure you will but be proactive with the docs and surgeons letting them no you no what is going on and you are wanting to make sure nothing bad will happen when she goes home. Usually they will right a script for lovenox for about 5 to 10 days after she goes home to make sure clots do not form.

Sending prayers and encouragement your way, Lookout. You are having my year 2009. My own mother was in the hospital. Since dad had passed I felt a lot of pressure (from myself only) to be that strong man for her. Later that year I lost my job. Did I spend too much time in the hospital? If so, did I really want to work for that company? They cut 1/3 of the staff so whatever; and, later they totally folded shop. Well, I'm blessed to be where I am now. It took almost two years to feel somewhat normal after 2009 but it eventually happened. Take care of yourself and family.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I've been adding to my guitar collection this summer and had a few good things happen at work. I

Lookout, sorry to hear about your Mom. I had a compound fracture in my leg and it was a ***** to get over. I can only imagine how hard it must be for your Mom. Good to hear she is doing ok now though.

I'll just go back to lurking now.

Needless to say, I really appreciate everyone's very kind words. As always, you are all always the best. :)

I know it's not the most critical thing in the world (unlike her successful fight with breast cancer about 12 years ago) but I'm very close to her and this killed me mentally because of knowing how much it hurt. My dad said she just screamed and screamed and I'm glad I did not hear that because that really would have tore me up.

She is without question the best woman I've ever known and everyone's kind words do mean something to me, I assure you. :)

I do look forward to telling her a bunch of strangers (to her) on a message board said such kind things. I'm sure it will be funny to see her reaction lol

Thanks again for the kind words my friends. I told her about people wishing her well and praying for her on the internet/this message board and the look on her face was so funny because she was so surprised. And she was truly touched, she actually told me to thank all of you and to make sure all of you know she really meant it. So to see her touched by complete strangers wishing her well and/or praying for her really made me (and her) feel good. So to all of you, again, thank you so much.

She's in for a long heeling process due to the disease she has. It's going to take 3 months at least to even put much weight on it due to how brittle her bones are.

Plus the medicine she has been taken, that was supposed to improve the brittle bones she has, actually might be doing the opposite. Her doctor said he has seen new studies showing just that. In fact, he has seen a lot of people with almost identical breaks that have been on it, while others with the same condition aren't so bad. So he believes it.

There is a lawsuit pending against the maker of the drug because of this, which they are seriously considering joining. They are certainly not people who believe in suing people over every little thing (in fact they have never sued anyone) but if this drug made it worse and caused this, they have just cause imo.

On a different note, I completely forgot about the tree i was supposed to take a picture of that was scorched by the heat. My memory sucks to say the least, which I know many people already know LOL. I'm Going to go out and see it and see if it still looks like it did the next day or two and take a picture of it if it looks as bad as it did. I hope so since it was so impressive.

Hey lookout sorry to hear about your mom. I haven't been around much recently and had missed all of this up until today. Hopefully she is feeling better now and not in as much pain. Seems tough times are going around a bit as me and downeastnc buried our grandmother yesterday after she struggled for 10 monthes after a major heartattack and surgery.

On a weather note. I've been having a ton of rain the last few weeks. I am starting to believe the whole "drought causes drought and rain causes rain" type of arguments. While my area sees continous thunderstorms just 20 miles away at bozarts house he has struggled to see anything.

Heres a time lapse of our july 1st severe storms in eastern NC. Doesn't show much in the way of wind or damage but the cloud motions are awesome. In the beginning they are coming towards the camera but at the end the outflow seems to have reveresed and is heading back towards the storm. Strange indeed.

What is the drug? Just curious about it because I work in a hospital and I could get some info for you on it.
