whew what a night ... work at the Embassy Suites in Greensboro and we had water flooding the entire 1st floor ... no power in hotel ... water coming through the ceilings in the restaurant, bar, kitchen, accounting office, etc ... spent 2 hours pushing water back outside ... finally off work just to find roads closed all over the city ... i live in Oak Ridge ... and not a drop of rain had fallen at the house ... not wishing for more rain for GSO but northwest Guilford Co. still needs it ...

I picked up 0.68 inch overnight during a storm between 1 and 2 AM. Very heavy rain. I didn't bother to turn on the computer at the time, so I'm not sure whether the storms were back-building from the ones that had been affecting G'boro for the past several hours, or if new storms were popping up and drifting east over the foothills. Anyway, it was a nice surprise. I went to bed thinking we had been left out of the rain, but was woken up to the great sound of heavy rain on the roof.

Same here.. and it was a heavy rain which went on for well over an hour. I'm pretty sure we topped at least an inch. I need to get another rain gauge.

1.87" here. great storm, tons of lightning, even lost power for an hour or so. Most rain at once since April.

Was missed twice yesterday. Late in the afternoon and after midnight last night, had a storm moving toward us only to fall apart before it got here and esentially ended up with nothing. (few hundredths). In other words the same old lookout screwzone effect. Even when it looked like it was going to rain both times, I just knew it wouldn't with an almost 100% certainty...and of course I was right.

I picked up .5" from the storm last night. The lightning had died down by the time it hit us but it rained as hard as I've seen it for awhile. There might have been some hail mixed in judging by the sound but it was too dark to tell.

CAE picked up a whopping 3.29 last night and mby ended up with 1.53

Nice. A mere .42 total back home even though just a few miles north Greensboro got hammered. They even had to close I-40 for a while. Down here at the beautiful N Grand Strand just a trace. Pretty lightning show though. Nothing like nighttime lightning at the beach.

When did 'dinner time' become an official meterological term? :D If I hold off dinner until 9:00, will that make the rain last longer? What if I eat supper and not dinner? ;)

Catching just the edge of another thundershower right now... bulk of the precip sliding just to the South of us, but it's raining just enough to kick us out of the yard.

IN GENERAL...EXPECT CONVECTION TO BECOME MORE NUMEROUS DURING THE

NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS...PEAKING IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY BEFORE

DINNER TIME.

THE

BULK OF THE DEEP CONVECTION SHOULD DIMINISH AROUND OR JUST A LITTLE

AFTER DINNER TIME ...

Wowweeee!! A most impressive thunderstorm was experienced over the Dunwoody area just north of Atlanta during the last hour or so...probably the most impressive of this year to date for me although I haven't been in Dunwoody much til recently. Torrential rains, very strong, gusty winds (probably close to 50 mph at strongest), intense CTG lightning, and, most interestingly, a good 15 minutes or so of small hail. Power was out a couple of times for up to a couple of minutes.

Is Tony somehow responsible for this?

Same storm has just about reached me. Seriously dark clouds, ton of lightning of to my SW right now. Hope to get some small hail but I'll be ecstatic about the rain!

Really? Wow that sucks. Just south of yall we have gotten really good rains the last two days. Just wow crazy how just one county over makes a huge difference in totals.
