I'm sorry to hear your peony is still wilted :( but I hear that those blue vitamins work wonders for bringing them upright again ;)

I've never had to resort to chemical fertilizers before. Usually a bit more attention perks it right up.

In other news, considering the widespread coverage of today's precip even I am a bit surprised I have gotten nothing at my house since midnight.

It's always best to use natural methods before resorting to man made chemicals

I've picked up another .23 today from the edge off a nice storm that dumped close to an inch across the river. There's still some sprinkles falling and the sound of thunder for the third night in a row is priceless

You got bypassed just to your north on Day1 by a few miles being the difference in getting 2-3 inches of rain. On Day 2 you got missed to the south by a few miles where the SW part of our county got up to 4 inches down in the UNF. I ve had a little over 2 up to this point total for the event mostly from the day 2 event. More to come over the next few days/afternoons. The vegetation is starting to heal from the past 2 weeks of scortched earth with the exception of my fescue. It will remain dormant for good now until September.

It's pretty lively done here at the beach too. Something about lightning at the beach. It seems much brighter and the thunder seems to roll for a longer time. Good stuff.

Folks,

It's a rainy night in N GA. Copious amounts of rain have fellen over the last couple of hours in the Roswell and Dunwoody areas of the northern ATL metro area. Per radar data, we've received ~2.5" of rainfall since yesterday with light rain continuing.

Tony, you're a major blessing and, therefore, we very much appreciate your great contributions. Thank you, sir!

Well, unfortunately, my 90% chance of rain yesterday and last night amounted to a grand total of 0.04 inch for July 11. The copious rain over the mountains could never seem to break through and progress to the east. Caldwell county (the neighboring county to the west) was under a flash flood warning at one point, and we had yet to see any rain! Oh well, today's another day!

I have accumulated a total of 1.54 inches of rain this week, so far. So, it's not a total loss, by any means.

Another day, another time of getting far less than places close by. Had one storm miss me by like a mile or 2 in the evening, then when a line of storms moved north last night, as soon as it saw my location a hole instantly opened up, while much heavier rain fell in every direction..including the places that got the rain earlier in the evening. This hole was so small, the radar radar estimated totals are fiction here. It was like 1 or 2 miles across..right over me. I just can't make this stuff up. :axe: I ended up with a whopping 0.20. Meanwhile, there was this one storm in athens that sat stationary for a few hours and had to dump 3 or 4 inches. It was very small though...but of course not only did they get that storm, they got rain from the line that moved up from the south.

And speaking of places that keep getting good rain every day, the same area that I talked about with the severe storm that missed me the other day got a great soaking again last night. *Superman sigh*

Lol, thanks, Larry, for the kindness, no matter how misguided :) It's the moles. I only made the mojo logo...and it hasn't helped me since I aimed it to north Atl. I have .25 for the last 7 days, while every one else, Chris included, is getting rains :) Today looks good though with clouds and cool early. Even if the clouds don't produce, I'll enjoy the cool. Tony

These hit and miss showers are upsetting a lot of people around my area... North Columbus saw upwards of 0.75" while the airport officially recorded 0.02"! There MAY be something wrong with the sensor, though, as radar estimates put close to 0.25" there. East Central Alabama has really cashed in the past few days! The storms just diminish some as they approach Columbus and allow the storms near Atlanta to be re-energized.

It's been a very long time since we have had this much moisture here in the East and Southeast US...

For those who haven't seen it already, Robert posted an update on his site this morning and is keeping an eye on that tight spin in the Southern Gulf of Mexico, His thought is that the models may be missing out on some potential down the road.

WSI's RPM was showing something moving up the west coast of Florida earlier this week. I never thought much of it, but it has kept the idea, albeit delayed, of something broad moving about in the eastern Gulf. That tight upper level low in the southern Gulf originated from the tropical wave over Florida (from what I can tell looking at the 48 hr WV loop) and dipped south toward the Yucatan Peninsula before turning back north today. There's not a whole lot of convection around it, but that upper level low could bring a bit more rain for Louisiana/south Alabama next week. We'll see.

Here's the 200 mb analysis showing the upper level low in the Gulf.

We got hammered at the house last night. 1.28" in the rain gauge. Very nice. We had been like Lookout and missing the boat, but we finally cashed in last night.

Hopefully today brings us the mother load.

We really got pounded as well here by that storm that started around midnight. That was probably the hardest I've seen it rain in a really long time. The water actually knocked down a silt fence bordering our property and washed a ton of mud, rocks, and pine straw all over our back yard and side. Grass is greening up though!!

I got about .66 out of it. But I had a sustained gust (can a "gust" be sustained? ;-) ) that I would estimate had to be at least 40 or 50mph and it knocked a huge section out of a poplar and I watched it fall about 80 feet down. luckily it just missed a fence, a zip line stand, and a zip line. Dang now that I write this I think that happened from the storm we got the day before (just .11 inches). either way, it was quite a site.

We got some pretty good winds out of that also but nothing like that. That would have been cool to see happen and then a bummer knowing your tree was damaged. At least the zip line is still up. :)

It looks like the Columbus area is getting some pretty heavy rain right now (3pm)
