+4C at 850 over today at peak hour (20z) looks about right.

Several of the Arlington PWSs are triple digits today. Would be a shame if DCA went 100, 99, 105, 101.

yeah, heh. tho if we were able to somehow string 4 in a row we'd say the 99 on the 4th was a shame. :P

My car temp read 111 today. Hottest it ever has. Part of that can be attributed to where I parked it -- an outdoor lot on top of a building -- but last July 29th I'd parked it in the same location for approximately the same length of time, and I don't remember it reading as high. Last Friday doesn't serve as a comparison, since I was working onsite and the lot is covered.

Today did not feel nearly as oppressive as last Friday. It wasn't, of course, but there's something to this acclimation notion. 80-some hours without A/C over last weekend boosts the acclimation, I suppose. Tomorrow ought to be the acid test of just how "acclimated" I am. Since all this heat is miserable regardless, we might as well get statistical satisfaction out of it, so I'm rooting for 107 tomorrow. Even if we get there, I still don't think it'll match, in a subjective sense, July 29th of 2011. Wasn't the heat index that day up around 118 or so?

Also, Bob Ryan on WTOP was sounding the alarm about "dangerous thunderstorms" on Sunday. Another thing I can't remember happening: anyone in the DC media hyping thunderstorms 48 hours in advance. Then again, after the big downburst event in 1989, I remember the next day the media was honking about the possibility of a repeat later that afternoon.

On a whim I put a meat thermometer in my car today. I just checked it. 152 degrees. Dayum.

We have been packing all week for our move tomorrow, pulled out our meat thermometer from a drawer, the drawer was 85 degrees.... Let's hope the next kitchen is better insulated

12 40's today so it was light. This heat takes some serious readjustment. I would say the conditions were harder to breathe in yesterday than today. Maybe its my body getting used to things.

Unbelievable today with the heat dome and not a cloud in the sky. Imagine the days of no a/c.

Can't remember it being that bad. We didn't have one until I was about 12. Even then they wouldn't hardly ever use it. I guess if you never had it, you couldn't miss it. I don't know how all these folks who've been without power for a week have managed it.

The weather on the boardwalk in Ocean City is wonderful. Pleasantly warm with a nice breeze. The ocean water temps here felt as warm as I can remember for early July. Tomorrow looks to be a bit more uncomfortable here. All in all, a nice beach week. Plus, Ocean City now has a Grotto Pizza.

True.

It's all relative to what your used to. It amazes me how consistently above normal temperatures are here and it has become the norm.
