This second batch over the Sound has a bit more southward displacement so it seems I might get into it....

Absolutely torrential rain at 6:35 PM here.

Statement as of 6:44 PM EDT on July 15, 2012

The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued an

* Urban Flood Advisory for...

Suffolk County in southeast New York...

northeastern Nassau County in southeast New York...

* until 745 PM EDT...

* at 642 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicates thunderstorms capable of

producing very heavy rainfall... with rates in excess of 2 inches an

hour... moving southeast across the advisory area. Minor flooding can

be expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the

roadway. Most flooding deaths occur in automobiles. Turn around and

find another Route.

Be prepared to take action if the flooding threat increases... or a

warning is issued.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON NY HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR...

SUFFOLK COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK...

* UNTIL 730 PM EDT...

* AT 645 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A

LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN

EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING

FROM MIDDLE ISLAND TO MEDFORD TO FARMINGVILLE...OR ALONG A LINE

EXTENDING FROM MIDDLE ISLAND TO MEDFORD...AND MOVING EAST AT 25

MPH.

* OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

BROOKHAVEN NATIONAL LABORATORY...YAPHANK...WADING RIVER...

MANORVILLE...SHIRLEY...CALVERTON...MASTIC...MASTIC BEACH...CENTER

MORICHES...WESTHAMPTON...RIVERHEAD AND SHINNECOCK HILLS

Definintly a good one T...at its height...some of the heaviest rain I've seen in a while.

trials what do you think that severe warned line of storms will do? hold together and hit the areas that just missed out this recent storm?

honestly haven't looked and I am not a severe weather guru, earthlight, forky, weathergun are the go to guys for that

Definintly a good one T...at its height...some of the heaviest rain I've seen in a while.

I don't have a rain gauge but the local observer in Mt Sinai (a town bordering Port Jeff.) reports 1.70" of rain today and 1.65" from the storm that moved through around 6:30 PM.

The satellite TV just went out, which generally means a deluge is imminent...
