vortex95
Rather well defined anticyclonic outflow evident the last few hours on the derecho/MCS moving off the Mid Atlantic Coast now. Also, distinct curl in the radar echo pattern now as well, indicating an MCV. It will be interesting to see what this MCV does once it gets out over the Gulf Stream. We should see a well defined mid level swirl on VIS imagery later. Perhaps yet another non-tropical or atypical development this season?
Ed Lizard
Doesn't look like its is happening, but I was in Lafayette, LA when the MCS that eventually became Danny came through in 1997. Non-stop lightning machine. Local TV met Rob Perillo, very good but apparently doesn't have the looks for a major market, thought it had a chance to develop. Danny was only a Cat 1, but it flooded Venice, I drove through there a week after and the damage was still apparent.
