It Really Was a Heat Wave II (unless it wasn't, in which case it was weak sauce)- - Obs and Disco Late June/Early July 2012

Just an absolutely perfect 4th of July. So so sweet. It's too bad some cynical urban types aren't in touch with their American roots. It's getting dark and it's almost time for DIY pyrotechnics.

On my paddle today on Moose Pond, I came across a veritable arsenal on somebody's dock and beach. Scooter jokes about the Normandy Invasion, this was on par with that. Cases upon cases of bombs.

But it looks like we're not far from Tip's Sonora. Heights getting high girdling the entire NHEM mid latitude zone.

I think that stays west for sure. However, it will turn warmer and more humid probably by mid month again. They'll still be lower heights over the east so as long as that happens, the Sonoran heat will stay southwest. Still overall pattern is above normal I think.

But the ensembles and op have the 594 hts not terribly far east of us while the heat pulses from the west at times. That to me is a flag.

yeah maybe starting to see a shift with some w atlantic ridging...boundary nearby at times / more moist flow?

Yeah heights rise and it might turn into more of a high 80s high dews kind of deal towards mid month. Maybe some 90s too.

It also could feature a few times where the boundary may stall nearby. So you sacrifice a more humid pattern with perhaps some days that might be wet?

On a side note, Logan is getting murdered by night time departures. I mean the high is 84 and the low 73? That's stupid.

LOL at the worlds worst city EWR. 97. Even LaGarbage was two cooler at 95. We can thank God we don't live there...despite the warm overnight lows we have struggled to have 90 temps in ern MA consistently over the least several days.

Were you on the waterfront last night in PYM?

Regarding overnight lows, they are real for last night. The storms washing over Boston around the fireworks time did nothing. Even the most rural of the wxbugs near me did not get lower than 70.

Yeah BED was at 68. But even BDL cooled to 71 after being 91. WNW winds staying up all night just advects the torch from the city/Cambridge etc.

We were at a beach in N Plymouth. My brother in law lives there, so we just walked down to a beach off of Atlantic St. Probably about 2 miles north of the waterfront.

Ok, kewl. We have friends that live in a few places in PYM. One is right around the corner from there up the hill on Cordage Terr and the other is downtown off South St. It was insane downtown. I heard someone say that there was like 500,000 people there. Not sure I believe it though. The fireworks were great and we were also able to see the other communities up the coast shooting theirs off as well. Duxbury, Marshfield, maybe Kingston, Pembroke. Always a good time between the parade and fireworks. All the candidates were in the parade, local and national.
