dendrite
I guess the Smyrna ASOS will get its thermometer tested in the coming week because the TN all-time state record high temp was 113F set back in 1930 at Perryville. MQY always seemed to run a little high to me so I guess we'll find out if it's legit or not now.

powderfreak
BTV just posted this on their Facebook Page...impressive! "It's a hot day across Northern New York and Vermont today, but we aren't the only ones! As of 4PM, 26 states have at least one reporting station with temperatures of 100 degrees or higher, and all but 3 states in the lower 48 (Maine, Washington, and Oregon) have temperatures 90 degrees and above." Typhoon Tip
it would be really funny if ORH nicks 90 on the 2's ; they just bumped to 88 on the 5pm ob.
ski MRG
Guidance was good at hinting western areas the warmest. Poor MRG. As usual, extremists FTL. Presently at Tanglewood where it's delightfully breezy and mild. The heat never was a factor today.

nzucker
Heat was also a bit of a bust here in the NYC suburbs...the forecast high was 98F but we made it to 93.1F only. Currently 91.9F here in Dobbs, finally got a day off from the teaching fellowship.

wxmanmitch
AQW 89/45! Interesting, I don't think I can ever recall a dew point spread of 19° F between AQW and PSF. PSF had a Td of 64° F last check. I was almost tempted to believe the observation was in error, but other stations around there had a similar drop into the upper 40s and low 50s. DDH was 50° F last hour. I wonder if PSF will crash next check. Find out in a few.

It will be a nice night. Enjoy. Dew point down to 54° F at PSF last check so dew point drop now in progress. I will actually be going out on rented pontoon boat with some friends on Pontoosuc Lake. Water will be a little choppy with the busy west breeze, but it should be a great evening for it.

ORH_wxman
I'm not sure the high dews can hang around as long as they say...EEN already has dropped to a 46F dew. ORE down to 60F. BAF down to 62F...we'll see how the 7pm obs go. Dew will climb again in the radiational cooling spots overnight, but that will also cause the actual temp to drop quite a bit. We dropped quickly and then have since rebounded a bit back up to a Td of 56F. I think its also getting to be that time of day where they'll rise a bit here as we start to decouple when the sun goes behind the mountains. However, you can see the real core of dry air in the southern portions of BTV's forecast area... Rutland and Springfield are both in the 40s for dews, same with SW New Hampshire.
