It Really Was a Heat Wave II (unless it wasn't, in which case it was weak sauce)- - Obs and Disco Late June/Early July 2012

As we blister away in the heat this weekend I was thinking back to the Oct snowstorm. While we've proven winters following Oct snowstorms tend to blow, I was thinking how lucky I was to have snow OTG for my bday which I spent alone in a powerless house being able to see my breath. Man what a great memory that whole experience is. Can't wait to share with my grand kids someday.

it would have failed regardless-but the rains/clouds this am put it to rest--surprised BOX still went with 95 in BOS-ridiculous

Yeah its been overdoing the heat all summer so nobody really actually forecasted what it showed...but going below other guidance too today just makes that MET output look that much more ridiculous.

Here is another shot of the hail I had last Friday. Look at that one huge piece and the weird shape. Does that typically happen with big hail? Anyone know?

It tends to happen when you break larger ice cubes out of the ice cube tray in the freezer.

They refer to it as oblong hail. That's what I took a pic of down in Duxbury back on Memorial weekend 2009. It was 2" and was in the ground about 30 min prior to when I got there.

I picked it off the deck about 10 mins after the Hail stopped. How big does that look like? Most of it was quarter sized and smaller but there were a few stones that big

Crazy they are going to break a bunch of monthly records down in the Mid-Atlantic for June hi temp. That airmass is sickening.

The heat up here today is a big fail...but down there they are going for some serious records.

Harvey L had KFIt showing 98F last night, but said it was a model that he didn't believe.

The clouds this morning did not help

Ive never had hail that large here so I was surprised to see it that shape. I've seen pics of the baseball sized stuff and that us jagged I guess

The hail I saw was elongated like in an oval shape. It was practically the length of my fingers. About 2" long 1.5" or so wide and maybe 0.75" thick.
