tamarack
The 8 summers spent working outdoors ruined it for me. I was completely spent after 10 hrs in 90+ heat. I recall framing houses at upper 90s, struggling to keep the sweat out of my eyes. Afternoon "coffee" break was the three of us spitting a 6-pack of Schaefer. The MA (was actually NNJ) could be hot in the shade, too. My 1st summer short-order cooking at Curtiss-Wright's summer resort included the 100/103/98 run on 7/2-4/66. The thermometer outside the cooking area was a cheap coil with scale to 130, IIRC, and on 7/3 the needle got at least 1/10 the circumference past the highest number. Just flipping burgers was a hair-singe-ing exercise. However, only about half the summers would top out above 95, and only 1966 had triples during my wx-interested years there. CoastalWx
How can I lose it again when I won last one? Where the home sensors are is what the temp/dew are in that locale. If someone is exercising or doing yard work at that locale, guess what those are the conditions they are working in. Same as if someone was working on the Tarmac they would be subject to the readings in that locale, or a cornfield in Iowa with an 80 dew. They are conditions in each area and cannot be argued that they are not We went through this and even Dendrite chimed in. Anyways, nasty out. No wind and 83 here while seabreeze a few miles away. Dews are definitely 70+ here as mixing isn't as good and low level moisture can remain in this pressure cooker.

Also, it's not valid, IMO, to imply that a 72 TD in one's backyard means that forecasters busted with a mid 60s forecast, as they're looking at the airmass in larger scale. Both can be correct. I don't think anyone busted. Dews were always supposed to be 70+ today. Mine is currently 72 and every station in Tolland has a dew of 70 or over, so it's safe to say the entire town is oppressive. That's all I'm saying. What gets me is if someone says the sensors are wrong. It's naturally more humid in wooded areas and most people live in areas like that. It's shadier , cooler and muggier here than the valley. On sunny days I'm typically 6-8 degrees cooler than BDL. I'll let you know when dews drop down to 60 this afternoon Tamarack has a point. If models used your weenie ba k yard stations we would have tstms modeled every day. Yes it represents the half acre you live on, but go to the street or a hundred feet up and it's different. That's why most ASOS stations are more representative of the lower levels. I'm not arguing it misrepresents your half acre. Forest areas are always going to be more Humid and cooled on a very microscale level, but verifying a weenie forecast of 75 dews un someone's backyard station shrouded by hydrangeas and oaks is flat out wrong. Those dews will be near 70 until the surface trough moves through.
