DC hottest in the country currently. And from records I went through 96 was indeed highest temp ever at 10am.

usually 8-10 degrees increase from 10 a.m. is a sure bet. maybe we just got our uber bounce early.. gotta hope so.

West wind + mixing happened.

Speaking of urban mixing, specifically here in DC, here's the NCEP project web page for high-rez PBL analysis that encompases a couple of goals: 1) homeland security issues related to atmospheric mixing of toxic materials and 2) assist the NWS EMC mesoscale modeling branch with validation of sensor input into their models. Great inter-agency colloborative research work and a good peek into the great non-op met work going on in the region. Here's the page:
