mjwise
100*F ain't gonna happen today. 96*F as of 4 PM. The storms from the past few days have royally ****ed up the mixing heights locally. DTW back down to 95*F as of 5PM (albeit with a swampy 74*F dew). I really thought 100 was a given today. Guess not. No reason to think tomorrow will perform any better unless I'm missing something. The record to beat is a degree higher tomorrow as well (101F, also from 1988).
Hoosier
Airmass warms a tick for tomorrow but IND is thinking that less subsidence could hold temps down a touch.

Hoosier
4PM LOT CLI has a high of 103 at ORD and 104 at MDW. I guess it must've been the COOP observer southwest of Midway that hit 105?

Hoosier
The higher dewpoints might have been enough to cost ORD a degree or two today. The dewpoints generally ran several degrees higher than yesterday on the hourly obs.

dmc76
Btw, anyone who cheers for this kind of weather needs to have a mental evaluation, seriously. This weather just drains the life right out of your body. I feel so miserable just walking outside. One or two days of this I can handle but day after day is too much. Autumn can't get here fast enough. People that want this dont go outside.
cyclone77
Still think tomorrow will be the warmest out of all the days this heat wave at MLI. This of course assuming the clouds stay away, which at this point it looks like they will. I think they can make 103 with this setup. Cedar Rapids may have a shot at 100 again tomorrow. If the front holds up just enough they should get there.
Geos
Hit 98° at 12pm, then lake breeze took it down to the lower 90s for the rest of the afternoon. HI readings hovered in the upper 90s for awhile. Currently 87°. I'm hoping tomorrow it doesn't go past 90° - I can't take much more of this constant heat night and day!
