BowMeHunter
Lake breeze kicked in somewhat. Reporting SSE winds now after the 103.9 high. But you said you don't get effected by a lake breeze in summer..but you do now on a 2 mph wind.. Magical place.

beavis1729
Perhaps this is more relevant for the severe weather thread...but ORD dropped from 103 to 84 with a T-storm...then bounced back up to 97 afterwards! Crazy...got to love lake breezes and localized mini-outflow/convective boundaries...

cyclone77
Temps are into the upper 90s all around Cedar Rapids, but the CR airport actually fell one degree to 93 last hour. I swear, if the sun moved 30 million miles closer to Earth the CR airport still would never hit 100. ORD just made it back to 97 after a nearly severe thunderstorm hit a few hours ago. That's as warm as MLI and Cedar Rapids got all day. Just plain bizarre.
Chicago WX
12z MET has 105 here on Thursday with NAM 2m temps even a little warmer. I'll take the under. Actual, 101º. 12z MET has 109 here on Saturday. That is the warmest output I've ever seen for LAF. I don't really buy it though given 850 mb temps peaking around 26-27C. Should end up at least a few degrees cooler. And going off the above...105º sounds about right.
Geos
103° again for the high just before the first thunderstorm hit just after 2pm. 95° predicted for tomorrow. Edit: Check out the road buckled by the heat in Chicago.
Chicago Storm
What's your guess for ORD tomorrow? Given a slightly warmer environment today compared to yesterday added 1F to the high(possibly could have been two), and the same can be expected tomorrow...I'll go with 104, which is a bump up from my original call of 103 from a few days back. kab2791
This is very unusual. The high today was 86 at DTW but 87 at Port Hope, a town on the eastern coast of the thumb, which is usually under the influence of a Lake Breeze, given it's great exposure to the surrounding Lake Huron. Considering the forecast high for DTW was 98, this is quite a rarity, especially during a heat wave. Timining/placement of convection/cloud cover is a forecaster's worst nightmare in these situations.

roardog
Btw, anyone who cheers for this kind of weather needs to have a mental evaluation, seriously. This weather just drains the life right out of your body. I feel so miserable just walking outside. One or two days of this I can handle but day after day is too much. Autumn can't get here fast enough.
