Downtown (Northerly Island) Chicago is up to 94 at 9:35 AM. 100 by 1030 AM anyone?

Yeesh. ORD and MDW running a dead heat at 92 (+6 and +4 from 9:55 AM yesterday, respectively), UGN 94 (+9), PWK at 93 (+6), GYY at 91 (+5), and DPA and IGQ at 90 (+7 and +6) at 9:55 AM.

Yeah these temp/dew combos so early in the morning are starting to breech toward 1995 territory, they really are.

Not so much, Tony, check back on the obs, the dewpoints back then were a good 8-10F higher than this, upper 70s and lower 80s. I believe MDW's Td got up to 83. Hot? Yes. Humid? Rather. 1995? Not even close IMO.

Hot out there for sure with 93/68 at McHenry weatherbug.

Going to try for a quick walk out in a local wooded park. We'll see how long we last. Only recompense is the lack of insects with the drought. Incidentally, I met the McHenry County ems director a few weeks ago and am going to work like heck with him to see if we can get an AWOS here at the county seat in Woodstock.

True. I went back and looked at Ken Labas' writeup about the event. It's a good read for anyone interested in extreme heat. It's probably somewhat lucky that it's been dry lately across the Midwest.

Just checked wunderground data for ORD and it's running as warm as or warmer than all 100+ days as of 10AM dating back to 1988.

It really doesn't mean much given the difference in mixing/UA temps/DP's/clouds/precip for each day, but it's something interesting to look at.

Two of the top benchmarks for the Noon OBS are 100 and 97.

Just go to the bottom and copy the monthly table into excel. All you need to do is the sum of all the highs + lows / divide by 2 and divide by number of days in month. It takes like 30 seconds.

But to be a bit cautious, I have noticed that sometimes wunderground omits the 6 hour high/low temp occasionally for the non major climate sites. So sometimes those intra hour highs and lows get left out. But I've only noticed this on a few occasions.

Thanks!

Cedar Rapids(CID) is currently running 6 degrees ahead of yesterday(high was 95). The dewpoint is also a few degrees lower than yesterday, currently 67. I'd love to see CR hit 100 for the first time since '95. Of course, on the 100 degree July day in '95 the dewpoint was 80, so today won't be nearly as bad.
