SpartyOn
The RAP just made my keyboard melt. Not sure if to toss it or lock it. It has this tendency to blow up temps from time to time.

Yeah, with such a huge depicted area of 115+, you've got to think that there'd be a small area of 120+ in there... it's just that the temperature indicator doesn't go that high. Hoar_Frost
As an additional note, MDW's all-time record is 109, set on 23 July 1934. A reference for the locations of Chicago's official observation site: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lot/?n=history. As you can see, during the 1930's, the official site was at the University of Chicago, which is mighty close to Lake Michigan.

Hoosier
any explanation for why the RAP continues to show 115+ with dews under 40 for western Iowa...that's just silly It's like it assumes really deep mixing every day or something. The runs in the coming days will be save worthy for sure.
Hoosier
NAM keeps bouncing around between mixing to 900 mb or 850 mb here tomorrow afternoon. It doesn't matter much though because the runs that don't mix as high have 850 mb temps around 30C late afternoon but the runs that do mix higher have them around 27-28C. Either way it ends up being around 41C at the surface.
