Chicago WX
I don't know what it's going to take to get a (sustained) below average pattern. Ice cubes. Billions and billions of ice cubes.
Hoosier
Ice cubes. Billions and billions Trillions and trillions of ice cubes. FYP. Driving around and seeing all the brown lawns and stuff...this is about as bad as I can recall.
Chicago WX
FYP. Driving around and seeing all the brown lawns and stuff...this is about as bad as I can recall. It's pretty ugly. Alas, it isn't the first time, nor will it be the last.
daddylonglegs
Its just crusty brown here. This area is all very sandy soil type...so it dries out very quick. Trillions? Quadrillions...as in the freezing over of L Michigan. We need a volcano...
Hoar_Frost
High was 97 here today, the 33rd day this year AOA 90 and the sixth in a row. Only minimal Cu development today.
Geos
Seeing a little flip flopping with the magnitude of the cool down. Even on the cooler end temps would probably still be around average. I don't know what it's going to take to get a (sustained) below average pattern. Wetter soils and increased cloud cover would help. But first we need a pattern shift to allow for that. Could be a big problem if it isn't restored by tomorrow There's definitely a local power outage in your town, but it isn't widespread. 100-500 customers affected. I hope you get power back soon! http://dteenergy.com/map/outage.html There was about a 10 minute outage here today.

stormtrackertf
I wish we could get some good, soaking thunderstorms here. I love some good heat, but seeing all of the plants/grass dying is depressing.

I am all for the rain but I don't see this being more than some popcorn thunderstorms that fall apart in 15 min. LizardMafia
FYP. Driving around and seeing all the brown lawns and stuff...this is about as bad as I can recall. Saw a story on the news last night where the grass might not comeback due to the endless days of heat and no rain. My grass feels more like hay, was washing some items on my deck and the runoff ran across my entire lawn without being soaked up.
daddylonglegs
I guess the northern lights were visible from La Crosse. I looked for a while the other night, but never saw anything...but maybe light pollution was the culprit...not sure... some pics http://www.crh.noaa.gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=arx&storyid=85459&source=0 another steamer... Chicago WX
Questions of the the day: Will LAF see rain? Will Tim's trip to the pool be cut short? lol, I was wondering what these dark clouds were all about. those things aren't moving and will commit suicide before too long...maybe their outflow will ignite further east. We may have a winner here. A couple of cells have ignited out in front of those original ones. Probably going to miss my place to the south, by the slimmest of margins though. EDIT: and it's raining. Chicago WX
Looks like those storms are getting squashed.. Yeah. Northern part took off, but the ones that went through here are going bye bye. It's all luck of the draw. Unless you're IND, where it'll never rain again.
