87storms
and as i say that, just saw an awesome streak of lightning.

Amped
No power. Heard sirens all over. Flashed the flashlight out back and only one small branch down that I can tell. The lightning is insane. With no radar, crappy "smart" phone wanabe there is nothing behind after this line went through right? Right worst is over until tomorrow I still have power
87storms
Constant lightning and plenty of rain/wind. That initial wind line was impressive i agree, that was actually one of the more memorable weather moments for me in this area. definitely didn't expect that. H2O
Wow@the DCA wind gust. It was plenty windy for sure. Got s couple big limbs down
WinterWxLuvr
Not much rain back here. Haven't measured my can, but it would appear to be about a quarter of an inch. We need much more than that.
mattie g
That was an awesome storm. If we had streetlights I might be able to see some damage, but power's out...and we don't have streetlights. I'm supposed to hop in the car in a couple hours to drive to SC. Hmmm...
TradeWinds
No power. Heard sirens all over. Flashed the flashlight out back and only one small branch down that I can tell. The lightning is insane. With no radar, crappy "smart" phone wanabe there is nothing behind after this line went through right? We are good...just rain behind the line of storms. The cloud to ground lightning was just sick in Frederick with those severe storms ahead of the line. I saw the sky turn green 3 or 4 times...might have been your neighborhood. Hope you get power back soon.
Disc
Sitting in the dark now. Gusts probably up to 80 with numerous trees down around the neighborhood. Lasted for a good 10 minutes. Saw power flashes and heard transformers booming. Id say that ranks as one of the best storms ive been through here in roanoke. Hope they get power on before the heat kicks in again tomorrow. mappy
Lots of thunder and lightning here from a smaller cell that broke off the main line
blazess556
WOW! That was an absolutely incredible storm here in Germantown. Epic lightning and wind!
TradeWinds
Not much rain back here. Haven't measured my can, but it would appear to be about a quarter of an inch. We need much more than that. I got 0.4" in my gauge and agree it seems we got more than that. Perhaps the wind blown sheets of rain got blocked by the house and didn't reach the gauge? Either way, I'll take a half inch...we needed it bad.
mattmfm
Prolific lightning, though not much thunder
biodhokie
Here's what it looked like in Morgantown just before it hit. I wish I could've 1) had a better camera and 2) caught the dust coming off the farm in the updraft.
Derecho!
From my 13th floor balcony in Ballston, much ruling, winning, and general awesomeness. One of the advantages of city living is not losing power, which I'm beginning to appreciate (especially since I have a reef aquarium). Only disappointment I guess was no loud thunder or visible bolts.

MN Transplant
Any locations? We leave town and the only awesome weather day of the year happens. Lame. TradeWinds
There is a dead cardinal on my porch and he is half black. I'm assuming the lightning somehow fried him. He was a regular to my yard...such a shame. Crap, now I got to remove him.
jacindc
Been nervously eyeing the massive sycamore in my backyard since the winter of 09-10, repeatedly saying I needed to get it trimmed back and thinned. Got it done three days ago. Whew. Still have power. But wow, I've not seen winds like that here on the Hill in 20 years.
