Not sure if this was mentioned, but BDL had their hottest first day of summer on record yesterday with the 97 degree temperature.

that's kind of a funny stat. first day of summer can only be the 20th or 21st so figure if they broke the daily record yesterday...odds were pretty darn high in favor of that.

This is true. It was the hottest temperature for the June 19th-22nd period. Again, trivial at best, but it's slightly surprising to me that they never hit 97 before in that range. Considering average highs are already up to 81 and they have hit 97 throughout early June and even in May before.

gotcha.

I'm getting more and more interested in that D5-9 period, when that trough/quasi-closed low evolves overhead. Firstly, dispense with the coastal thoughts - there's no lower tropospheric baroclinic action in play, so you won't get the cross sections for cyclogen. What we are likely to see, however, is diurnal convection - that fun kind. Where seemingly minimal CAPE over produces because of steep mid level l-rates. Not completely sold on that sort of regime, but it's looking good.

91 still in rockport/gloucester Ma (BDF) nowhere in sight?

Yeah, it appears like that BOS VR06 wind was a perturbational gust or something, because PSM is also still NW, and it would be highly more likely that Portsmouth NH flips prior to Logan, certainly Cape Ann

93/67

dews are very tolerable on these west winds, this is magical, hopefully they can stay off shore and the coastal communities can make a run at 100-102 or so. Enjoy the snizzle and sizzle!

After having stepped out for lunch, I can say for certain that yesterday was worse....humidity noticably lower and there is a prevalent breeze.

What a difference from 1 side of the front to the other, Had to run some errands, In 3 miles from Lewiston to Auburn went from 82F in Lew to 91F and humid in Auburn....... :)

Just think to winter when Auburn is a winter wonderland while Lewiston has flipped to rain

Agreed was just thinking same thing

You guys are probably right, but there may also be some acclimation going on... Yesterday was definitely going to come along with a greater shock value, due to the antecedent coolish vibe.

Not as hot, either. some places are a degree less now than yesterday at this time. Actually never mind this ending comment - heh, helps to actually check. Some place like BED and BOS are warmer by a degree

Had to come to Newton and Cambridge today and was dreading it but it's actually tolerable here.

Hot but nothing "epic", wind is helping. Just goes to show how tough it is to break the 100* mark in New England. Everything needs to come together just right.

ot: on the ride in saw a big black bear on RT 2 just out of Greenfield. Stood up on it's hinds as I slowed down, looked at me and then up the hill it went. Pretty cool.

Yeah, bears have been active here.

My neighbor took a pic of one in his yard a couple of days ago. My son was camping in a friends yard across the street from here at the time...lol
