Gee, the wind was busy all day just like I said. Blizz has already put on his footy pj's and gone to bed. I'm sure he will apologize for his remarks in the morning. Jerry owes me an apology as well. TT is now a sworn enemy so I don't really care much about his opinion.

How could I dou t your veracity? I'll buy you a snowboard as a peace offering.

79/69, a high of 88 (85 @ 2k). A beautiful evening with a delightful breeze. Tonight was the first night of the Summer Youth Golf Clinic here. Temps settled back to the low 80's when we started. At 1700' the breeze and tolerable DP's made it fun for all. We've got a great enrollment this year and being a volunteer asst. coach is rewarding. How funny it is to see urbanites, who view themselves as cosmopolitan, display such small minded, provincial attitudes when it comes to the value of obs from the great expanse of territory beyond their concrete cocoon. I've got news for you guys, there are millions of people that reside in rural settings across this great nation. The weather we experience is every bit as real and important as the weather you experience. Checkout the flag in the picture Blizz, nice cooling breeze just as I said. Oh, those trees in the background, the ones that have there leaves flipped over and their branches being bent. That is also indicative of wind.

94/70, but with barely tolerable dewpoints, in the so-called big (ugly) city containing essentially nobodies, all of whom have unrealistic views of what is really the good life outside of their huge, walled - off ghetto.

But despite this grim and true portrayal, there is a silver lining. Psychotherapy can effectively treat Inferiority Complexes.

11pm 80, warm, but it's not Dallas.

Dallas would still be in the upper-90s right now like many of their late evenings last summer. Of course last summer they had 73 days of 100+ including 40 consecutive days at one point to go along with their 131 90+ days. As hot as those numbers are, it was only good for 23rd most 90+ days out of the 271 first order sites last year.

Both sites are to my east and the Stump Hollow site is several hundred feet lower. Peru at 1900' to my west had a high of 86, Worthington at 1700' had an 87. I'm right on the Worthington line and I had an 88. If I had a 95 I'd say I had a 95. The main point here is that all this hand wringing and carrying on about a day or two of hot weather is baffling. It was a summery day, some people spent it outside and dealt, some people sat in a/c comfort and talked about how awful it was. It's a good thing the men that built this country had the steel to work through every adverse condition thrown at them. With the soft and wimpy attitude that seems to be pervasive in this country now all we have to look forward to is our decline. Sad.

A friend... Those barbs about you being daft earlier weren't directed toward the individual I thought you were. For that, sorry ma-man. I've been to a few of these GTGs, and frankly, it's easy to get people confused with others - I honestly thought I was giving you crap the same way I do Kevin or Scott or Phil..etc. I don't think at this point we have met. I really am very easy going, and dish it out, and take it. But we buy rounds for one another, these same people I call stupid a-holes. It's all good - if know them. D'oh.

That said, upon further reflection I will point out that It shouldn't seem baffling to anyone. That's not fair. These people are pointing out what they are experiencing, which is very real, just the same as you are pointing out your own perception of the heat. It is easily and quite logically understood to be unfair that you can describe this as pedestrian warmth, and then act via posts as though no one else is allowed to describe it as something more, when they are suffering 97/72 conditions. I will also add that "...carrying on a about a day or two of hot weather" ...I hate to say, thus comes across as a tad inflammatory (not pun intended hehe), when the target audience of that statement are so damn frigging hot. That heat of which is, by the way, at the upper bounds and worthy of the extended coverage and notice from those who suffer those conditions.

By the way folks, my car broke down on the way home from work, and I had to huff it about 4 miles total in this heat. Wow. Just wow. My own fault, too. My radiator fan stopped coming on while sitting in traffic over a year ago, and I procrastinated fixing it. My fault. So, the comical aspect is that the ignition switch got stuck in the on position. So ... what that all amounted to is an overheating car that can't turn off! Country song writers have better luck than that, Jesus! Usually the way it cools off is by driving it at 30mph or more, to force air through the radiator.

It's 7pm, no mechanic is open in this time zone. Having no other choice I pulled up into the parking lot of my town's Fire Station, and started banging on the windows. Embarrassing. They come tumbling out, "what the hell are you doin'?!" I explained that the fan won't come on, and the car won't turn off. Yeah, so basically, a bomb. They got it. The one dude says, it's okay, I'm a mechanic when not here. So we opened the hood and took the fuse out that services the fuel injector - I think he said - and the car cut off.

I had the beast towed to a local mechanic that worked on it like a month back, and left a message. What * of a * evening this was!

Which is probably why it's no surprise that the Kennedy assassination took place there.

Thank god this didn't take place in Virginia.

Yeah tomorrow is def the highest departure day.

Wait a second...hmmm. You make a point. Something doesn't seem right about +11 even so. They were in the mid 60s overnight, which should have been above normal anyway, then were 97. Seems they should have been more than that. What's the average high and low there?

Their average is 81/59...they were 97/65...so thats about right. +16 on the high and +6 on the low...for an average of +11. If they can go 100/74 tomorrow then they can put up a +17 or something.

Okay, yeah.

You know what, it really makes those +20's put up March and April that happened ...alot, that much more significant in a way.

Not sure BDL will make 100F tomorrow. Looks like the warmest 850mb temps won't arrive until after peak heating occurs, however, looks like with west/northwesterly winds down slopping will help to add on a few degrees. NAM has 850's around +18C to +19C during peak heating. I'm thinking 99F for BDL tomorrow.

I was actually shocked BDL only got to 97F today...thought for sure when it was like 95F at the 1 PM obs they would get to at least 98-99F.

Consider a mixing depth greater than 850mbs. 850 is a great normalized level, but in the winter, the 850 is not really achieved that often, and in the summer, it is exceeded, particularly during big heat.

The high launch pad tomorrow should start vertical displacement more efficiently and earlier than today. That will likely allow the boundary layer to expand a few mb higher than today.

One thing I noticed about today is some staggered 89s mixed in with 96's, and I suspect that is because those locales had large diurnal rises needed to get that mixing. Today had weak gradients; that didn't help.

Do you happen to know what 800mb temps were today and what they are forecasted to be tomorrow?

:) Eh, I just use the NAM's FRH grid and approximate. Looks like 15C at 800mb. BUT, heh, the 900mb level temp is a whopper 24C. The 825mb might be closer to 19 - I'd go from that with the artist's pen.
