ski MRG
C'mon guys...enough. I'm deleting all of the attacking posts. Let's get along. Hey, I was the victim of TT's unprovoked attack. I certainly hope you will be deleting his posts attacking me. Again, he fired the first shot. I will defend myself Brian, you have to allow a man to thwart his attackers. Damage In Tolland
Most places where folks live the dews never dropped below 70 today and many stayed in low-mid 70's all day. That is awesome and fascinating to think about
Diego
I only made it to 93.8F here in Southern Westchester, a full 4F below the NWS forecasted high of 98F. I tend to disagree, despite the official policy, about the way temperatures should be measured. The Northeast is a forested region, therefore I see no reason for temperatures not to be measured in wooded areas since that captures the true climate and ecology of the region, including the effect that the weather has on plant and animal life. I tend to believe Central Park's readings a lot more than EWR, since clearly a tarmac surrounded by various multi-lane highways next to the largest city in the USA is a more artificial environment than some trees, which is what's supposed to be in the Northeast. I also find Central Park to be the second most representative station for Westchester, besides HPN/White Plains. Dobbs Ferry is sort of in between because it has the elevation of HPN yet more development/heat island like Central Park, and it also radiates less since it's hillier, which is more like KNYC than the flatter land just northeast of White Plains along 684. Jaffrey/AFN always tended to run a bit warmer than the weather at Hampshire Country School in Rindge. Rindge is slightly more elevated and definitely more heavily forested, which goes back to this argument. Fitchburg, only 12 miles away from Rindge, is a true torch spot however with the lower elevation and downsloping off the Monadnocks/Worcester Hills on W/WNW flow. They're at 97/69, brutal, although dewpoints down here in Westchester are running in the low to mid 70s, making the humidity unbearable. I was at work in the City today and the subways were absolutely brutal. The trains have good AC, but the stations are platforms were miserable. Tomorrow is going to be awful before I start a long weekend with only minimum work to do for my Masters courses. But there may be some wisdom to the official policy's madness. Perhaps 400 years ago and earlier, you would have been correct. But shouldn't temperatures be measured that most closely reflects the ambient environment? i.e. is the area in or around Central Park surrounded by forest? Ans. No. Conversely, is the area around EWR and LGA surrounded by blacktop? No, therefore, I would think an adjustment should be made to correct that distortion. Bostonseminole
Good call, first legit KFS win of the year, just turned on the house AC for the first time this year, rapidly cooled to 72. Was only 81 in the house because of shade. Good call. Now go out and play, mow the lawn, plant, trim foliage damage and sweat your cayonnes off, you deserve it. yeap, KFS did good this time around, was hoping he was wrong, I hate days like today. HIPPYVALLEY
LOL at all the arguments. Comfort wise a few degrees means little to most people when it's in the upper 80's and low 90's with dp's in the upper 60's. It's f'n hot! But it's summer so no big deal. Topped out at 93 imby with a dp of 71. Looks the same tomorrow here but maybe worse to the east? Too bad cuz' I have to drive to Cambridge. dendrite
SNC has a td of 75F and EWB has been sitting at 74F. E/SE MA has generally been in the low 70s, but that's just about it for the properly sited official stations.

snowman21
SNC has a td of 75F and EWB has been sitting at 74F. E/SE MA has generally been in the low 70s, but that's just about it for the properly sited official stations. SNC is an AWOS (and one that gives funny readings sometimes at that), but region wide dews were generally 69-72 at the ASOS sites, so when all these homes stations are on the high end of the range or even a few degrees above that, one has to be suspcious. What is the probability that the highest dew points occurred exclusively at home stations? Did all the 73+ dew point air point manage to flow around all the official sites all day long over an area of hundreds of square miles?
