I was too high and admit it. But nailed high dews. You were too high and too low on dews. I'll leave it to everyone else to determine who won today

Maybe not tomorrow... Here's the point and click for this region of Mass...

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Northwest wind between 8 and 11 mph.

Here it is for your region of Cantnetachick...

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Calm wind becoming west between 7 and 10 mph.

Looks like Mass wins!

Jaffrey/AFN always tended to run a bit warmer than the weather at Hampshire Country School in Rindge. Rindge is slightly more elevated and definitely more heavily forested, which goes back to this argument. Fitchburg, only 12 miles away from Rindge, is a true torch spot however with the lower elevation and downsloping off the Monadnocks/Worcester Hills on W/WNW flow. They're at 97/69, brutal, although dewpoints down here in Westchester are running in the low to mid 70s, making the humidity unbearable. I was at work in the City today and the subways were absolutely brutal. The trains have good AC, but the stations are platforms were miserable. Tomorrow is going to be awful before I start a long weekend with only minimum work to do for my Masters courses.

KFIT is a torch spot, to be sure.

The airport there is in sort of a bowl... I wonder if some of the surrounding hills cause any tiny downslope there. Plus there is def a UHI effect around that spot.

I think it was hotter in GC today than last July lol..yet some are claiming cool and breezy

1,377ft in Beckett has gotten up to 91F so far today...that's about Pete's elevation and that temp makes sense given the laws of thermodynamics and mid/upper 90s 1,000ft lower.

http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KMABECKE8

Again its not worth getting into the temps so much because thermometers in treed backyards are going to be a lot cooler.

I mean if FIT was 97F and yet HubbDave has only hit 90F... that's one helluva lapse rate.

High of 91

Its warm for sure, but outside of the tarmacs, shopping center parking lots and cities, its really a beautiful summer evening, I hope everyone enjoys it, looking forward to some time on the deck a nice bbq and some fireworks later!!

Oh, trust me, I know it is hot out your way. When I left my building (not airconditioned btw) it felt like a furnace. It is summer, and we get heat. KFIt was 97 around when I was driving by it.

We hit 94 in July of 2010 here (while I was working in Lowell at 99 or 100 or something), about the same last July

I thought we would be getting a few ticks north of 91 today, but it does not seem to be so.

Is it air conditioned at your workplace?

Yeah, that's kind of the problem here. You sit in this office all day and then go home and it's 9whatever in the house. man - f this.

Tomorrow you'll likely do better. Today was interesting in that one aspect of this that is under the radar is the diurnal spread is pretty amazing. A lot of areas were 64F this morning and managed 98F for a high, and their DPs rose while that was happening. That's hard to do folks!!!!

But what makes it interesting is that looking at upstream synoptics there is virtually no way to ventilate this tonight beyond what we can get back from radiational cooling - which ain't much with DP at 70 and likely to go up if anything once the sun goes down.

What I am getting at is the even in rural areas there's likely to be a very high launching pad tomorrow morning.

I figured Thurs would be the warmer of the 2 days. NWS has me only getting to 70F for the low, and that, my friend, is rare, here.

Should be an awesome day to mow the lawn, work on the pool some, and set up the flippin slip and Slide for my 5 y.o.

She can be a harsh taskmaster sometime.

Living in the city on a night like tonight, esp with no AC, can be brutal.

I wonder how hot Wiz's bedroom stays tonight.

Jesus, its all relative, record high here is only 93, along the coast and over the higher elevations it does not get as hot as the valleys and urban areas, but relative to AVERAGE its hot everywhere lol lol lol lol lol

I can't recall too many times when it got into the 90s on consecutive days in June here. July, yes, but this is a scorcha for June

This is very reasonable sounding from KTAN:

TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO RISE ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND THIS

AFTERNOON...ALBEIT MORE SLOWLY THAN EARLIER TODAY. OBSERVED DEW

POINTS ARE A LITTLE HIGHER THAN MOST OF THE 12Z GUIDANCE. THIS HAS

RESULTED IN HEAT INDICES AROUND 100 DEGREES ACROSS A BIG PORTION

OF THE AREA. EXPANDED THE HEAT ADVISORY TO COVER JUST ABOUT ALL OF

SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. SOME CONCERN SOME AREAS MIGHT HIT EXCESSIVE

HEAT WARNING CRITERIA...HEAT INDICES OF 105 OR GREATER...

PARTICULARLY IN THE CT RIVER VALLEY. DO NOT THINK THESE EXCESSIVE

HEAT INDICES WILL PERSIST LONG ENOUGH TO WARRANT A WARNING AT THIS

TIME.

.... What I find intriguing is that the DPs busted guidance as being too low - usually it's the other way around!

Yep, Pete knows too, he understands that say upper 80s in Peru at 2k is just as warm relative to average as a 97 at bdl. Happy Vacation!

Currently on the 7th tee at Worthington. A very nice breeze. I'm at 1700' and it was 86 when I pulled up a while ago. Worked in the sun all day. It was hot but the breeze was great. Check Peru's obs for temp and wind if you don't believe me. It's perfectly fine out. All this hype about nothing but a warmish day.pffft.

Are you daft or just an idiot....

You're talking about elevations between 1300 and 1700 feet, and discounting verifiable data far below where the bulk of demography is suffering?!

Jesus shut the f up!

Whatever, that clown is stepping out side at 1500 feet where it is quite physically supposed only be 84 on a day like this, and exclaiming "pfft over a warmish day".

Think about the absurdity of that.

And whatever, so it's only 90 in your back yard. Dude, your almost guilty of the same thing. it 9 f'ing 7 here with a DP of 70 for everyone. Good lord, I'm up to my neck in more nuts than fruit cake.

Fwiw, KPSF at est. elev. of 1161,' has topped out at only 90F, not far from Pete's location, and the wind has effectively with dp's not yet in the sauna range (right now, only upper 60's to low 70's), ventilated or tempered somewhat so far any real oppressiveness to this one.
