HoarfrostHubb
90.0/64 comfy Similar here. 90.8F/72 for the highs 90.1F now, td 70...but that is in the woods with all that tree stuff
Diego
While I'm not knocking heat waves, I still say snow/cold and even wind is much more interesting. Btw, only 92F at Central Park? Overgrown vegetation caused suppression of true temps. despite some low tcu? I mean EWR is 97F, LGA 98F (though both places are also suspect on the high side because of extensive surrounding blacktop), but KTEB at 95F (maybe the most representative of my area at the moment). scoob40
Methinks you're full of it. Much hotter when I was there an hour or 2 ago. Mid 80's with a very gusty wind. If this is the worst heat of the year it's pretty wimpy. Yeah 90 at Goshen and 91 at Stump Hollow. Mid 80's seems a bit farfetched.

I went to a friends house around 3:15 here in town. My car thermo read 88F, and that is several hundred feet lower than the 2K monolith

HoarfrostHubb
Yeah 90 at Goshen and 91 at Stump Hollow. Mid 80's seems a bit farfetched. Could be true, depending on siting, etc. As mentioned above, I saw an 88F (car thermo, but it usually reads a degree or so high) here in my town

ski MRG
Methinks you're full of it. Much hotter when I was there an hour or 2 ago. Currently on the 7th tee at Worthington. A very nice breeze. I'm at 1700' and it was 86 when I pulled up a while ago. Worked in the sun all day. It was hot but the breeze was great. Check Peru's obs for temp and wind if you don't believe me. It's perfectly fine out. All this hype about nothing but a warmish day.pffft.

ROOSTA
HOT is HOT. Heat Index above century mark all afternoon. Impressive for June. Warmest temperature now occuring. Brutal night inbound. Twin boiled, baked off the grill with cole-slaw. Ice cream to top off... yummy Personally I never give into AC, tonight might be a rare exception. Questionable if it makes a 3 day run, Bueller? I say yup!

HoarfrostHubb
Tip, it is not that bad out...at least here. 90 is not bad...really. My daughter wants me to set up the slip n slide, but I told her to wait until after I mow tomorrow. Of course, at work my car thermo read 103 and it was in the upper 90s for a lot of the ride up Route Poop Last July felt worse

You're talking about elevations between 1300 and 1700 feet, and discounting verifiable data far below where the bulk of demography is suffering?! Jesus shut the f up! Don't mind him, Tip. I spend a lot of time at high elevations working at the ski resort up here... and let me tell you, I spent all day working at 1,500-1,700ft in northern Vermont and yes, it is freakin' hot and humid. I know a lot of it is an act with Pete... but we hit 90.7F at 1,650ft base of the ski resort today. I know that East Slope is a magical place but I'm also right on the east slope of the Greens and it was hot. There was a strong breeze all day though, I'll give him that... but aside from that forget it. HOT. http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KVTSTOWE3

Good lord, I'm up to my neck in more nuts than fruit cake. Oh, trust me, I know it is hot out your way. When I left my building (not airconditioned btw) it felt like a furnace. It is summer, and we get heat. KFIt was 97 around when I was driving by it. We hit 94 in July of 2010 here (while I was working in Lowell at 99 or 100 or something), about the same last July I thought we would be getting a few ticks north of 91 today, but it does not seem to be so. Ginx snewx
So will your crown me King of extremes like you promised earlier? Love me these high dews. Gotta pray and hope for those with no Ac. Good call, first legit KFS win of the year, just turned on the house AC for the first time this year, rapidly cooled to 72. Was only 81 in the house because of shade. Good call. Now go out and play, mow the lawn, plant, trim foliage damage and sweat your cayonnes off, you deserve it.

nzucker
While I'm not knocking heat waves, I still say snow/cold and even wind is much more interesting. Btw, only 92F at Central Park? Overgrown vegetation caused suppression of true temps. despite some low tcu? I mean EWR is 97F, LGA 98F (though both places are also suspect on the high side because of extensive surrounding blacktop), but KTEB at 95F (maybe the most representative of my area at the moment). I only made it to 93.8F here in Southern Westchester, a full 4F below the NWS forecasted high of 98F. I tend to disagree, despite the official policy, about the way temperatures should be measured. The Northeast is a forested region, therefore I see no reason for temperatures not to be measured in wooded areas since that captures the true climate and ecology of the region, including the effect that the weather has on plant and animal life. I tend to believe Central Park's readings a lot more than EWR, since clearly a tarmac surrounded by various multi-lane highways next to the largest city in the USA is a more artificial environment than some trees, which is what's supposed to be in the Northeast. I also find Central Park to be the second most representative station for Westchester, besides HPN/White Plains. Dobbs Ferry is sort of in between because it has the elevation of HPN yet more development/heat island like Central Park, and it also radiates less since it's hillier, which is more like KNYC than the flatter land just northeast of White Plains along 684. Zucks misses all of the exciting wx Jaffrey/AFN always tended to run a bit warmer than the weather at Hampshire Country School in Rindge. Rindge is slightly more elevated and definitely more heavily forested, which goes back to this argument. Fitchburg, only 12 miles away from Rindge, is a true torch spot however with the lower elevation and downsloping off the Monadnocks/Worcester Hills on W/WNW flow. They're at 97/69, brutal, although dewpoints down here in Westchester are running in the low to mid 70s, making the humidity unbearable. I was at work in the City today and the subways were absolutely brutal. The trains have good AC, but the stations are platforms were miserable. Tomorrow is going to be awful before I start a long weekend with only minimum work to do for my Masters courses.
